I was waiting for the sun to have an effect on the game

Hate to say it but Texas stadium had the sun in your face as well, no different. Do people listen to themselves? You look for anything to slam Jerry over even the most stupid of comment. No doubt there are reasons to be upset with Jerry but this is not one unless you had same issue with Texas Stadium.

BOOM.
Exactly.
That shade to sun area sweeping the field was actually worse than the new stadium.
The only difference is the opposing teams bench was on the sunny side of the stadium in the heat as where the Cowboys side was in the shade.

Difference was the team was winning and crap like this was not a big issue. Now it is an issue because it give people another reason to blast Jerry. I'm sorry I think Jerry deserves criticism but not over dumb crap like this

This issue has been beaten to death after 49ers loss. And rightfully so. It needs to be addressed just like the Ring of Honor inductees.

A self-described “very, very frustrated” Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones dismissed concerns about his stadium windows Friday morning.

Jones was asked whether he would consider adding shades for the windows of AT&T Stadium, whose field stretches from east to west and thus invites in blinding glares during some afternoon and evening games.

Cowboys receiver Cedrick Wilson had said after a 23-17 loss to the 49ers. that he couldn’t see a ball that quarterback Dak Prescott threw to him.

“It’s one of those things you can’t do anything about,” Wilson said. “I turned around and couldn’t see Dak or the ball.”

Jones scoffed at concerns about the sun as well as those about the stadium’s massive Jumbotron, which intercepted one of Cowboys punter Bryan Anger’s punts. Anger had to punt that ball again. https://www.usatoday.com/story/spor...-defensive-stadium-sunlight-glare/6610172001/

who CARES really:omg::facepalm:

..its there, its part of the stadium and BTW those with outdoor stadiums add in wind, rain, and yes SUN in the eyes outdoors plus playing hot and cold elements, all not a thing Inside..iftsthat part of the stadium you adapt like this traveling to GB, NE or Bufalo in winter games. Teams know this coming in and if its factor they see it..

its just part of the places you visit...you adapt

I see this in baseball or other sports saying they lost the ball in the lights..so??:espn:

Since 2009 can any of you name more than one time where the sun played a factor in a 3:25 game?

Or do you just remember when Cedric Wilson couldn’t “see” the ball except for that split second when he ducked so it wouldn’t hit him in the face?
if you really think the sun beaming straight into your eyes doesnt play a factor youre off your rocker

Probably one of the last on the list of my concerns with this team. Both teams have to deal with it anyway.

Yes, but a $1.2B build of a 21st century sports venue should probably eliminate sun glare issues when constructed as a dome stadium.

A little background on the hole in Texas Stadium.

AT&T is the dumbest stayjum in the US. It was purposely built to enhance its “visual aesthetics” even if the sunlight blinds players trying to see. Apparently JJ would rather have a beautiful visual than a beautiful playoff win.

You want proof of that? I’ve been to 7 High school football games there- curtains were used to keep the sun from being a factor. Been to 3 college games at ATT- all in the afternoon. All used the black curtains. Not for Cowboys games. We have a visual image to uphold.

They shouldn't have ever oriented the stadium east-to-west with those big glass doors.

Also, the NFL rules are stupid regarding the curtains. Just close them as soon as the field is impacted. Having to decide pregame and then having it written in stone for the entire afternoon is dumb. They review everything under the sun, but just not the sun.

Or, just tint the windows a bit.

We only have 2 late afternoon games on the schedule at AT&T Stadium.
T-Day game with the NYG, and the Christmas Eve game with the Eagles.

Unless they move the noon games with Washington, Detroit, Chicago, Houston. Which will be doubtful. I am actually surprised we have that many noon home games.

Jerry was asked about this last year on the Fan and he said words to the effect of "I wish all that I had to worry about was curtains in a stayjum."

In the second half on Sunday, that sun was shining directly in our DL's faces as they lined up.

Its all he SHOULD be worried about since its about the only football related problem he can actually fix.

Yea, but a $1.2B build for a 21st century sports venue should probably eliminate any pitfalls like sun glare effects when possible. The story I always hear about Texas Stadium was that they ran out of money to close it in.

I don't give a damn how much it cost. Fact is both teams deal with it and at the time Texas Stadium was state of the art when it 1st came out you had the sun directly in your face and in players eyes, a crown on the field that was bigger than any stadium I have seen. Some just love to complain about Jerry and look for any reason, personally I think it gets old and only make Cowboy fans look like whiners when there are bigger issues.

Well for those saying they should not have oriented it that way. With where the stadium is, it could not have been oriented any other way. Unless they could have knocked down the apartment complex on the south side. They had no room to orient it north to south. They probably could have angled it a bit more to the south, but not by much.

Probably to prevent any in-game shenanigans by the home team.

If we all remove our thoughts on Jerry, AT&T is still a erroneously designed footprint that should not be compared to a stadium that opened after an underfunding issue.

Another factor, the earth is at a much different angle in September as opposed to January and should affect the sides more in the winter months.

Whatever. I just wish we would turn in into some sort of home advantage since they can't turn the stayjum.

Its NOT
its an unfair advantage for team to Play on the road and the home team decides When to open and close a roof or curtain could be at time to be advantage to them. you start the pay the stadium need to remain the same.

BTW Jerry didn't design this im betting the paid firm 1mil to engineer and design this and they as engineers decided this was the best orientation given a100s of factors. not aesthetics. jeez people just shut it!! outdoor stadiums have far worse factors to overcome wind, sun, and weather ice snow etc

you think that sloppy CHI failed game 1 for SF was somehow fun to pay in..lmao.

billion-dollar stadium how about NYG/NYJ sharing an outdoor stadium that cost more?

I don't see how someone can conclude its not a nice place.

I dont like that you cant walk the entire perimeter due to the severe have vs have not set up, but the place is stunning.

Maybe it's slightly too big but that's splitting hairs.

That's why I said as soon as the field is impacted. Those shadows and sunrays aren't there all the time.
