I’m glad to say that I was wrong in my pre-season evaluation of what we had in FA RB Javonte Williams. I believed going into this season that he was a below average NFL RB on the downside of his career due to his bad knee injury two years ago. I was wrong.

Javonte Williams has been a very effective RB for this team early in this season. So far in three games this year, he is ranked 8th in rushing yards. Here are his stats:
  • 43 carries for 227 yards (8th in the NFL)
  • Averaging 5.3 yards per carry
  • Has 3 rushing TDs in 3 games
  • Averaging 75.7 yards per game
  • 14 of his 43 carries have resulted in first downs (2nd in the NFL)
  • He also has 11 receptions for 49 yards. (Not a great avg but still effective)
  • His combined yards per game avg is 92 yards per game.
What surprised me most with Williams is his power and ability to shed tacklers. Now he is probably not a 20 carries a game workhorse. But he has proven so far that he is a good option in the running game.

If the Cowboys can avoid getting behind two scores, Williams can be an excellent weapon. If the defense continues to be hot garbage, Williams effectiveness will be reduced. It’s hard to run the ball consistently when you’re down 2-3 scores like we were in Chicago.

I’m happy to say I was wrong about Javonte Williams.

Can you only imagine how much better he would be doing, if he only played during preseason.

:lmao:

It's okay to be wrong about a player Bob, the problem is you recruit us to think as you do. Now look at what you've done, now those of us who follow you will be wrong as well.
Thanks a lot Bob:laugh:

I was dead wrong as well. His quickness surprised me as well. But he’s a truck for sure. I do think we can feed him the rock however. He’s built for it. If that isn’t their formula for winning now, it should be.

3rd year removed from knee surgery, that's when most players recover their former skills. I'm thinking most didn't realize that he was a beast before the knee injury.

I barely watched Bronco games. They have sucked for awhile and weren’t in prime time games. I do remember a smidge of him at UNC. With Mack Brown right?

I was one of the few that was ok with the RB room, mostly because of Williams. But I definitely thought Blue would add a certain dynamic to the offense that would be difficult to defend.

I’m glad they are finally keeping their mouths shut over something, but I’d really like to know what his problem is.

When Blue finally gets on the field, I think we will be saying, what they hell was Shotty waiting for.

If Blue is as explosive as we had hoped the two of them could be a really nice combo.
