I’m glad to say that I was wrong in my pre-season evaluation of what we had in FA RB Javonte Williams. I believed going into this season that he was a below average NFL RB on the downside of his career due to his bad knee injury two years ago. I was wrong.
Javonte Williams has been a very effective RB for this team early in this season. So far in three games this year, he is ranked 8th in rushing yards. Here are his stats:
If the Cowboys can avoid getting behind two scores, Williams can be an excellent weapon. If the defense continues to be hot garbage, Williams effectiveness will be reduced. It’s hard to run the ball consistently when you’re down 2-3 scores like we were in Chicago.
I’m happy to say I was wrong about Javonte Williams.

- 43 carries for 227 yards (8th in the NFL)
- Averaging 5.3 yards per carry
- Has 3 rushing TDs in 3 games
- Averaging 75.7 yards per game
- 14 of his 43 carries have resulted in first downs (2nd in the NFL)
- He also has 11 receptions for 49 yards. (Not a great avg but still effective)
- His combined yards per game avg is 92 yards per game.
