I was wrong, thought opening up cap would add legitimate players!

i don't think it would be different if they brought in a head coach with clout.
this is how jerry runs his team.
and i don't believe that will change.
i honestly didn't think they'd be that active with outsiders.
i'm surprised...and two trades.
i don't mind gambles on fmr first rounders as long as they don't ignore those positions in the draft.
in a perfect world...they make those one year deals in addition to quality type f/a's.
but thats not the world our gm lives in.
there are 2 options with our current gm....doing nothing....or making one year gambles.
at least this time it was the latter...instead of another year of doing nothing.

Cnuball you are right, nothing has changed with this front office. I was opportunistic that opening up cap funds would have at least had them sign tier 2 fa's, but Stephen and the rest of the front office hasn't change the way they do business. Bottom of the barrel players on 1yr deals. Yesterday they acquired two 1st rd busts which goes with two others the prior day.

This is why I was pushing hiring an HC with Clout. The BB/Saben type who can convince this group that they need to change the way they run and build this team. Their model has proven it doesn't work. They specifically hired puppet coaches so no one would question their decisions. A player like Parsons sees what is going on and would be wise to request a trade.

They can't even extend players without giving them the max, laughable how Josh Allen the MVP of the league gets less then Dak. Their strong drafts of becoming less and less missing on several high selections. Expect to see the Jason Garrett era again. Good enough not to be picking at the top of the draft, but rarely seeing the playoffs.

Rant over.
Sanborn is a player.

There were a few who thought that and some were very defiant about it. I've always been a believe it when I see it guy and the Joneses have not earned the benefit of the doubt.

Despite having plenty of evidence that it does not work, they are entrenched in their philosophy that you don't give big contracts to outside free agents.

Like you, I thought a coach like Belichick might have the clout to change that, but that may be why the Joneses didn't seek a coach like Belichick.

One of the ones that said they would sign free agents.
Don't think that's it. You were touting how much money they were going to have through restructures. You can't tell me that you weren't expecting them to sign costly free agents. Your posting history doesn't support that.

You are building up the players that they signed, because that's what you do, but you can't tell me you didn't expect them to spend more.

The problem is their actions right now are confusing. You restructure guys to open up 60m in cap space to sign guys that are blind dart throws. Honestly its just odd
Not just this .......why even extend Dak if you are not committed to making a serious Super Bowl run? Good lord, can you imagine what they could do with the $60M and strengthen other positions?

I still expect them to spend more. They can sign whoever they want.

They can, but who they want can't cost more than $5 million per year, unless it's one of our own free agents. Do you believe they will sign any outside free agent for more than $5 million per season? (I thought $3 million would be their cap this year, so I was wrong about that, but that seems to because FAs are just more expensive overall than I thought they would be.)

I do, they could sign a corner and or a receiver.

I don't think we'll sign another corner, but I do expect us to sign a receiver. I sincerely doubt it will be for more than $5 million per year and most likely will be a one-year deal. Evidence for the past 10-13 years is against that no matter how much money the team has available. What they do in free agency is a matter of philosophy not money.

I think at some point we'll sign a backup QB, but it will probably be Rush. I'm not expecting much outside of that, especially with outside FAs.

You don't seem to think they are married to that philosophy. You willing to admit that they are if they sign no free agent for more than $5 million per year?

more former first round busts or just standard bargain basement types?
They tried to sign Brandon Stephens today. Hilton is still out there. Kupp and Tyler Lockett are available at receiver. Will Hernandez is a guard that is still out there.

This FRONT OFFICE has no CRED no matter what you claim
UNTIL THEY ACTUALLY SIGN A QUALITY FA from another team they are failures
