I wish Bill Parcells could coach this team again

exactly, people have this notion that Parcells was doing this bang up job when he was 34-30, with a bunch of stupidity and treating players bad
Some lowlights.
1. Getting blown out on MNF vs Philly in 2004.
2. Richie Anderson bumping into Vinny and turning a win vs Pittsburgh into a loss.
3. Scoring 3 points vs the Bengsls
4. Santana Moss burning us on MNF during Triplets ROH ceremony.
5. Jose Cortez missing a FG to put us up 13-3 at Seattle. We lose 13-10
6. Ron Dayne running over us on Thanksgiving.
7. Destroyed 35-7 vs Washington
8. Sticking with Testaverde and Bledsoe too long
9. Getting a GW FG blocked vs Washington, getting a penalty and Washington then gets the GW FG attempt.
10.getting embarrassed by the Saints on SNF
11. Getting embarrassed by Jeff Garcia on Xmas
12. Getting embarrassed by Kitna and Marinelli.

And the coup de grace,

13. The bobble vs Seattle in a game that should not have even been close.

There were good moments during this timeframe but it wasn’t exactly all sunshine and rainbows and this “culture” is largely mythic. It resulted in exactly 0 playoff wins!

They did improve the talent level from when he started though.

Well, he’s older than Jimmy and both are within 12 months of Jerry, so maybe not.

But I get it.

maybe you can hang your hat on him being a disciplinarian and correcting mistakes that lead to flags...

but he is very wrong on the talent end. he was culture based and a better GM than Jerry...but I dont think he takes us to the promise land with picks like Bobby Carpenter.

He is like Saban, Belicheck...he can clean some things up...but he isnt perfect.

Deion's approach of "give me football players, screw the culture" is more productive than some 'preserving culture' trash that others spit.

wow...these fools on this forum

looks like Jerry over riding Parcells on Shawn Marion for Demarcus Ware was on Parcells draft watch too...

shame.

unless the internet is playing me.

Parcells wasnt all he was made out to be...other than being grumpy to players and using weak things like pictures to slap in the tunnel on your way out to the field.

this board...

Thank you for these lowlights. The Cowboys fan base lacks common sense and embraces the pillar of salt mentality. Those with Neanderthal tendencies tend to think that pure aggression and yelling at players will solve all of the teams problems.

Yet coaches with hard arse mentalities and abrasive behavior such as Parcells also failed in Dallas to have any playoff success. 30 years and no HC/player combo has gotten out of the divisional playoff round in Dallas.

Yet the Cowboy fanbase is always looking back and wanting more of the same mediocrity. The very definition of insanity. Trying the same thing over and over again yet expecting different results.

No fixing it with dak and Jerry. A good 6 years away from anything.

good.

no one wants to be the Cleveland Browns for 6 more years. Jerry and Dak surpass that.

but now that I said that...allow the Browns to win something in the next few years.

its a lame life you live

He turned around a team that was pure crap before he got here.. and once again pure crap within a few years of leaving. No surprise that Jerry’s decisions took a window that was wide open in 2007 and slammed it shut.

anyone wanna do a case study with me...

i bet if i go start following the Detroit Lions the team starts to fall apart with decision making from the FO, their new OC will be terrible, all the sudden the culture there breaks down

accountability? anyone? anyone?

He took a Quincy Carter led Campo team to the playoffs. There is nothing overrated about that.
He turned us around but he was too conservative on offense IMO. He coached not to lose vs coaching to win

I dont know how i feel about this...

I saw Todd Bowles just look defeated after a game earlier this year, literally almost had tears in my eyes for the guy...

it was like he knew there was no way to win and his job was on the line for something out of his control...

anyway...he decided to tie the game and lost in overtime i think. basically, he brought his team from behind.

the theory is, his team was getting their butt kicked all game, came back, final seconds....and he decided to tie the game and then they lost in overtime.

Troy Aikman, I believe was the commentator and just ripped Todd Bowles on live tv. "You have to go for a win there. You cant choose to prolong the battle with a team that is kicking your butt. When you have a chance to win, you go for it"

I understand it. But the sad part about it is...it leaves the door open for shaming a coach who cant win(the game or people over) unless he converts the 2 point conversion. Its shaming...and its bad for existence.

It seems like since that game, i have seen numerous scenarios around that same concept this pass year...like someone is trying to ram it into my head...and now your post. I get the CONCEPT, but I dont get the shaming.

If I was a coach....my press conference would be me standing next to a 20FT wall of concepts that I believe allow the media to shame you...and I would tell the local media....this isnt going to work....im out ahead of it....you cant use these lame loopholes to shame me...and i would list as many as i could and then tell the media screw off if you dont like me.

Ha! Parcels is older than Jerry. What he did best of all was get Jerry and his boy out of the personnel department for a many years which allowed him to grow the talent base. He left Wade and Carrot Top 13 pro bowlers.

The only thing I wasn’t fan of with BP was his tendency to draft the sons of players who played for him the past (see Bobby Carpenter). I wasn’t a fan of that.
That pick looked solid at the time the kid was just soft but had all the tools to succeed
