He turned us around but he was too conservative on offense IMO. He coached not to lose vs coaching to win
I dont know how i feel about this...
I saw Todd Bowles just look defeated after a game earlier this year, literally almost had tears in my eyes for the guy...
it was like he knew there was no way to win and his job was on the line for something out of his control...
anyway...he decided to tie the game and lost in overtime i think. basically, he brought his team from behind.
the theory is, his team was getting their butt kicked all game, came back, final seconds....and he decided to tie the game and then they lost in overtime.
Troy Aikman, I believe was the commentator and just ripped Todd Bowles on live tv. "You have to go for a win there. You cant choose to prolong the battle with a team that is kicking your butt. When you have a chance to win, you go for it"
I understand it. But the sad part about it is...it leaves the door open for shaming a coach who cant win(the game or people over) unless he converts the 2 point conversion. Its shaming...and its bad for existence.
It seems like since that game, i have seen numerous scenarios around that same concept this pass year...like someone is trying to ram it into my head...and now your post. I get the CONCEPT, but I dont get the shaming.
If I was a coach....my press conference would be me standing next to a 20FT wall of concepts that I believe allow the media to shame you...and I would tell the local media....this isnt going to work....im out ahead of it....you cant use these lame loopholes to shame me...and i would list as many as i could and then tell the media screw off if you dont like me.
