Yeah money's good...but I really wasn't saying the new one 'ruined' the old one. In fact, it made me realize just how good the original was.
I was suggesting that perhaps they could have made something more original and could stand on it's own 2 feet as opposed to just remaking it. Having Reynolds reprise his role as Paul Crew...having him tutor some snotty ego maniac punk...old school vs new school...maybe in the end realizing that maybe they were not so different. Even get it down to the new kid asking Crew "if it was worth it" and surprise...he says no.
Coming up with a follow up would in itself get someone today that didn't see the original need to go back and see it so they could understand the entire saga that spanned 30 some years.
An opportunity missed IMO.
