if BP is gonna try and control Romo MORE or LESS....

Will BP go ultra conservative or will he let Romo play like last week... You gotta think, BP will feel more and more each week that he has to control Romo more so he can really manage the game and the clock.

Thoughts? (Munchis - ignore this thread) :laugh2:

The only way we lose this game is with turn overs, sure we will take our shots but I would be much happier with JJ & MB having big days and Romo throwing for under 200 yards.

I think he'd love nothing more than to run the ball down their throats, tire them out and keep their offense off the field and out of sync...but I don't think he'll go conservative...if they do what it takes to stop the run, he'll open it up for sure.

However, unlike last week when we opened up throwing like crazy because of Carolina's front 7 and respect for their offense, I think this week we'll open up with a running play to see how that goes.

Washington is currently ranked 30th in pass defense . I see no reason why Dallas would play conservative . If you want to get Romo comfortable throwing the ball down field , the next two games are the time to do it .

They have had problems with the health of their secondary all year, Springs off of a bye, Rodgers off a bye should be healthier. Plus gave them a week to work in Troy Vincent, they should play better.

I don't know if you can call it conservative or not.. but I think we will run the ball more this game. I think early on, its the best way to control the flow of the game. The skins will be on an emotional high to start.. much like philly was. If we can run the ball.. that will limit the opportunities for thier D to make plays and cause turnovers.

I think you have to run the ball until the skins prove they can stop it, the health of their DT's has improved with the bye, so maybe they will, but I would make them prove it.

Yeah I think you guys are right about the run with JJ & MBIII... BP did say he wanted to get MBIII involved earlier in the game.... a nice 1-2 punch from the jump

I say we mix it up with run and pass. Get T.O. the ball early and keep them guessing. If we get an early lead this game could get ugly for them and beautiful for us.

I posted on this subject in a different thread earlier this week. My thoughts are that if BP wanted to keep Romo on a short leash, he would have done it against the Panthers. It would have made perfect sense. We were playing against a tough, aggressive defense in their house with an "unkown" at QB. Based on BP's history, he would have gone max protection and played very conservatively, limiting the number of throws for the QB and using the running game...if he doesn't trust the QB. Instead, what we saw was a nice balance of run and pass.

Why would we suddenly change philosophies and put a leash on Romo? It would do nothing but hold back his progress, and force this team to play down to the level of the opponent. Nothing good can happen by putting a leash on Romo. Past history with other QBs and BP have shown us that this recipe does not work in the long run.

We played aggressively with Romo in the last couple of games, and this leads me to believe that BP sees something in Romo that he hasn't seen in other QBs during his tenure as Dallas Head Coach. Could it be that he actually trusts Romo?

Take at look at my Don't Look Now But Parcells. . . . thread. Some interesting responses to that.

Undoubtedly, Parcells will seek to control Romo more. Not because Parcells is a control freak (which he is) but because Romo is essentially a rookie and never been with another pro team.
Parcells took a chance on Romo. He sees him as his project. He also knows that Romo is relatively young and will continue to develop and doesn't want him to burn white hot and them flame out.
He wants to bring Romo along and build his confidence and experience. It's a no-brainer. I'm sure any other coach -- even in this free-agency era -- would do the same to a relatively inexperienced QB.
I think most people see something special in Romo. Parcells will bring him along slowly and, ultimately, will do a good job and prepare the young man.

Go Cowboys!

No, he needs to let Romo play like he has been playing and put the dagger into the hearts of our opponents. If this team is a championship caliber team, then we have to play aggressive with the foot on the gas pedal. Championship caliber teams do not play scared.

I think you guys are both 1/2 right... we need something in the middle of what you guys posted.

There is a long list of championship teams that have looked to run the ball first and then take their shots. I don't think that is playing scared, it is determining what gives you the best chance at winning.

I don't see the skins scoring a lot of points especially with Moss out and Portis dinged.

They only way they are in this game is if we turn the ball over a lot or too many stupid penalties.

There is a difference between playing scared and coming up with a game plan that gives you the best chance at winning, all things considered.

Not to mention this is BP philosphy to begin with.
