The title says it all. In all my years as a fan, I've never seen a hire as bad as Eberflus. And everything that happened because they refused to fire him until it was too late just kinda made me lost interest. I didn't choose to be unenthused; the vibe from last year just makes me very skeptical about this year even tho BeeberFluff is no longer in Dallas.

Something about last season still has me mostly checked out as a fan.

Will it depends on what checked out means. I don't hurt anymore after losses. But I'm a fan.

I would say at least a third of the fanbase feels the same way. Nostalgia brings us back. Hope brings us back but that is fading. The Jones family is a cancer and it is hard to get too pumped with them involved.

Matt Eberflus is no longer part of the equation, but the person responsible for hiring and firing him remains. The same person is responsible for finally attempting to fix the problem with Christian Parker.

A new season is just over the horizon. Actual games will likely reinvigorate you. Just understand that Eberflus may not be the real source of your current skepticism, depending on how this season plays out.

I've had 31 years of feeling the way you do/did. Best advice I can give you is to become more indifferent to the team, and in particular, Jerry.

It really was a terrible marriage, and one that should have never existed. The lack of foresight within the front office is troubling. On the other hand, within a dysfunctional organization, things often have to get much worse before they can get any better.

Exactly what good would it been if he fired Matt in the middle of the season nothing because I can tell you this maybe you're pushing this aside but they had a record number of injuries It doesn't matter how much depth or what system they would have ran it would have been a failure just like Zimmer zimmer was not a bad coach you don't fire a guy in the middle of the season when you know you don't have any ways to rectify it nothing would have happened it would have remained the same the record would have been the same the defense would have been just as bad...

Sometimes you all need to think like an owner and someone running a business and you're looking at how bad things are but knowing that firing an employee if it's not really gonna help you might as well make him earn his money the rest of the year and lay in the garbage with everyone else until the end because they would have had to pay him every penny what exactly would have came of last year they got rid of everyone and most of the players at the end of the year when most people will do that...

It was bad but don't get it twisted Two years in a row the Cowboys had a historical amount of injuries almost all on defense it not only affected the defense it affected the special teams and it also affected the offense the way they were going to call plays and people just need to put that aside and remember that it all is connected and firing Matt in the middle of season only would have made fans pacified it would have done nothing for the team and it made no sense business wise to do so..

I get how angry people are but that had been like 2024 firing a bunch of people with a bad start and all that stuff with Prescott gone it would have done nothing they made the changes at the end of the year that's when you make them You're you're not gonna get much out of firing a guy in the middle of the season if your team is already short some of his best players it wasn't going anywhere in the first place you might as well let the bus driver continue to drive it on fire until the end and then you get a new bus..

Can't get it he was terrible but Mike Zimmer was bad as well but he he could have actually stayed here and fixed things I really believe that but they fired him as well You know why I know it was so many injuries there is no way to put practice squad players and your depth guys and guys you're pulling off the street together even with some of your starters and make it work there was too many..

Yes I understand how angry you were but it's time to let that go I was angry at the time as well but there's nothing they could have done because they didn't have the players I don't care if you'd have brought in the best defensive coach in the league if they let you borrow him after game six he would have never fixed this they didn't have the players to fix it..

This is the right take.

The roster was awful and Eberflus is no change agent..... he might be able to keep an already good defense stable but hes not turning liver into patent.

Some here may want to focus only on Uberpuss as a coping mechanism since hes gone but the truth is that both were stank

Edit: now I see that some are blaming injuries. We entered the season with Revel injured and OV is always injured. The "un-injured" LB corp was the worst in the history of the NFL.

Checked out? No. Am I skeptical of the NFCCG and SB hype that’s started? Yes, but there are enough wild cards on this roster where it’s not impossible.

This is by far the best roster we’ve had in three years. Anything more than a playoff appearance is kudos to this team. Anything less is disappointing and should probably have the coaching staff on the hot seat.

Feels like we’re back to a similar lever we were at most of the McCarthy years….good team but the fan base craving more than an early postseason exit which have mostly been the cause of front office stubbornness.

That is called aging. At some point you just realize, through the course of life, there are real things that matter. The entire NFL is pure entertainment, like a movie. You going to go home moping because they killed Joe Pesci in Casino? 3 days later you still upset about seeing him in that grave in the middle of the desert? Have a kid die (I havent) get a divorce(I havent)... but have real stuff happen to you over time, and the Cowboys quickly take their place in importance.

I remember my girls being upset about losing the championship game of a tournament. It was around the time we started dropping bombs after 9/11. I made my personal rule on that day. I said they had 1 hour to be upset, but then we move on. I was telling them there could be people dying in the middle east right now, and we are going to cry about losing this amazing game? Nah, cmon ladies, lets have some perspective.

I didnt always follow my own rules, but I got better over time. Same with the Cowboys.

I checked out McCarthys last year. The FO did nothing to improve the team. When they traded Micah, they sucked me in. Since then I've seen a difference. So now I'm back!

Not me. It's just a game, sure I wanna win and compete, but at the end of the day.....it's a game, meant to have fun. If you aren't having fun, I can see why some check out, but a couple of wins and they're back.
Eberflus is not a bad coach, he had bad talent and bad leadership. He knew his place, he could have whined and cried to the media, but he's been around, he knows how it works
