Falcons RT, 29 years old.

I never heard of him until a few months ago. I knew he was a FA so kept an eye on him and he looked pretty good.

I know Clay Matthews had a sack or two Saturday night but they were on a twist and was actually the guards responsibility. Clabo picked his man up.

Falcon fans seem very pleased w/ him. Would be great to plug him in and not have to worry about your tackles for a few years. Then they can start churning the middle of the line. I think this is a great draft to get a starting C/G in rounds 2 or 3. Lets say that rookie starts in place of Leonard Davis and at LG you try to get by w/ Kosier or Holland for 1 more year while you groom another young guard.

Sign Champ to play FS and Clabo to play RT. Not asking too much and plugs two huge holes

Draft Robert Quinn at 9(OLB). Draft Cameron Heyward(DE) in the 2nd. Draft Stephen Wisniewski(C/G) in the 3rd

Sounds good, I am just hoping there will be a free agency.

I cant imagine atlanta doesnt do everything they can to keep him.

and I cant imagine Jerry removing a free agent right tackle and putting in a new extremely expensive right tackle. We have had free agent right tackles for like 8 or 9 years, with the exception of 05.

What are they going to do? By the time there actually is a free agency we will be able to throw our offer in at the same time as them.

In other words he will hit the market and be up for grabs.

If I recall the guy wasnt a top draft pick or anything so he should be looking for the pay-day in favor of any loyalty.

i mentioned sigining him in another thread the other day . the OP of that thread brought up the fact that Dahl is also a free agent so ATL may have a issue signing them both.

I can't buy into signing a 29 year old tackle. I wouldn't be angry if we did, but I'm not advocating it.

We need some homegrown offensive linemen starting with Carimi, Wiz/Pouncey and John Moffett.

Draft a C in 2-3.

The centers in this draft are absolute garbage.

Blalock is also a free agent according to one listing I saw, depending on what the new terms are for defining free agents.

I'd prefer Blalock over Clabo or Dahl.

He definitly has more upside IMO.

More upside, stronger player, younger as well.

Sad thing is, the Cowboys had Dahl in camp, and let him go.

He's a self made player. I think he did a stint over in Europe too.

Dont remember him when he was here, though I think it was when Parcells was the HC.

Dahl took a lot of time to develope. No team would have kept him around that long.

Atlanta has a very young team as regards its talent. It also has a very low cap number right now. So they are in a position where they can afford to spend serious money to keep critical players. If they want to keep them they can. We are at a much higher cap number. One thing just about everyone agrees on is that the new CBA will have a salary cap as well.

When are people going to understand that Jerry isn't going to spend alot of money on free agents. First off, Dallas had the highest payroll last year and if the cap comes back under a new CBA, Dallas will not have cap room for any high priced free agents but will in fact probably have to cut a few high priced vets. Second, Jerry's stadium debt has infuenced his personell decision for a few years now. No free agents and trading down for lower priced rookies. Third, if the CBA thing drags on, he will not hand out any big contracts with all the uncertainty.

The most likely scenario is several high priced vets will be cut, a few of our own free agents who accept mid-level deals will be re-signed, and maybe one or two lower priced free agents will be brought in. I don't see much more than that happening. They need to re-sign Free which will not be cheap so I just don't see them having the ability to go get a bunch of free agents.

The question is has Does Jerry want to win Now or not. Dallas isnt at the point were we are so talnet laden we can groom guys to step in in a few years. We have holes that need filling now. You do that with high draft picks with the talent to start now or veteran free agents who can start now. Jerry was pretty shocked into reality this year. From what he has said he is back to the spare no expense attitude of his past. If jerry wants to turn this team NOW he has to approach everything different than the last few years. prossman
