That dink and dunk conservative crap had to go. I know there are times they may have to call it that way but they aren't going to have success in the post season doing that. Get the ball downfield. Do better in the redzone and continue to do good outside of the redzone with tds of 20 yards or more. Let this pass game open up the run game a bit. I like the direction the team is going now on offense. Just keep building on this success.
I said this was the entire issue after the San Fran loss. I couldn't quite figure it out against Arizona, but it became more apparent against San Fran, and it's really pretty simple.
McCarthy was lost that game. I'm not saying he totally sucks. He's obviously very good at macro-level management. But he's a little suspect when it comes to the details. So, after he stayed late at the office. And after he consulted with people who knew more than he did, and got on the same page with his QB, and skill players, it started to come together.
He was just handling every other aspect of the team, and focused on macro-level aspects of being HC, so he hadn't really spent time on the details of being OC, and he never got into a rhythm. Now, after some introspection and weekly adjustments, self-scouting or whatever, he's been on fire. He just needs to consider every possible detail that
could matter and prepare for it. After seeing his adjustments, and how he's using 4 WRs at times, and being creative, and trusting his QB, I'm starting to have more confidence, because I can see, if you do that, it'll start coming together.
You have to be aware of Dak's limitations. But I think he was focusing way too much on that, and limiting mistakes, and not nearly enough on Dak's strengths, which, if you just let Dak be Dak, he can come through for you, as we've seen over the past month. It's not just about asking the player to be themselves, it's about helping them be themselves also.
This team has a chip on its shoulder. Can they get it done? We shall see.
