Yes i know it sounds foolish(maybe not the carter part)

But we will lose with James and Brooking at LB..we will make guys like Tavaris Jackson look like John Elway and Troy Aikman tied into 1.

And they will make guys like Troy Hambrick look like Emmit and Walter tied into 1

They are pedestrian liabilities.

Agree on Church for anything looking like a passing down.

But like Aven8 said and I was talking about in the other thread, get Orie Lemon up. That guy is a player, I think. He was the best UFA signing we made this year, IMO. He won't time great and honestly coverage is his weakness, but he has really good instincts and unlike some of our other PS guys, was actually very productive in college against top competition.

He should be good on special teams, too.

Now if he can only convince Jerry that he can kick.

I think it could work this week. I've seen more of Seattle than I care to, and they're offense is awful.

Chutrch can play passing downs, but no way should he pretend to be a regular ILB. You don't just instantaneously convert someone from safety to ILB midseason, and at 220 lbs he would get destroyed trying to play the run.

A better game plan where safeties are actually helping with the coverage on the shorter routes and routes over the middle would go a long way to helping Brooking and James. Before he got hurt Sean Lee wasn't having any success in Sunday's game plan either.

Yeah like somebody else said. A few years ago when the FB was the blueprint to beating this D

I feel like teams will use James and Brooking against us, they will Benedict Arnold us

The only part of the post that sounds foolish, is thinking that there are two guys assigned to cover the entire middle of the field no matter what for the entire game.

I'd like to see Lemon up here as well. He looked like there was def something to him in preseason and i think he'd be solid in a ST/rotation role to get his feet wet and see what he can bring.

Surely, this is the week we can Buehler.

Between needing a new punter, another ILB, and a big guy (josh brent) active on gameday, there's no way to justify having 2 placekickers on the roster. Sorry, there's no way to justify having one placekicker and a kicking specialist that does very little kicking and isn't even that good at it. No possible way.

LOL no way Jerry does it though

This absolutely baffles me...I don't even...I can't....I....I'm baffled why Buehler still has a spot

I really believe that the next time we need to cut someone to open up a rsoter spot, Buehler will be the one to go.

I think it will be bennet

You could be right, but I believe they let Bennett play out his contract. He has more value as a blocker than Buehler has as a second kicker. That doesn't necessarily mean anything, but I think JG would look at it that way.

Simpler, and given how flexible our defense is supposed to be, would be to play a 3-3-5 and let Church be the "field safety". We're not supposed to be wedded to the 3-4 with Rob as our DC anyway.

The 3-4 is still the base with Rob, and getting away from that is part of the wrinkles he throws in. A 3-3-5 as a base is not the same.

I could see some passing packages with Church there and I'd definately like to see what Lemon could do with a little playing time. I was a big fan of his in the preseason.
