Idea for DC and new defensive coach

Okay, I came up with this in about 30 seconds while watching the America's Game of the 1988 Bengals... :)

But has anyone seen this show? If you haven't, I highly recommend finding it. Most people know Tim Krumrie was a 10th round draft pick who made himself into one of the best, toughest, and most intense defensive linemen of his day. He's known for running drills at player workouts that are so intense, they almost make players sick. Well, he broke both bones in his lower leg in one of the nastiest injuries ever seen on TV early in their Super Bowl vs. the Niners, and he was talking about it on this show.

For one, he was so upset about it, and took so much responsibility for it, that he was almost in tears just re-telling the episode. But he refused to go to the hospital because he wanted to stay with his teammates, and wouldn't even take a painkiller when they told him they had to cast the leg because he didn't want his memory of the experience to be foggy. So they set his frigging leg with no painkiller and no anesthesia. The guy just oozes incredible heart and desire. And he insisted he was going to keep coaching until he got a Super Bowl ring.

Anyway, he's now the DL coach at KC. If that staff is blown up, as it may be, why not bring him in as DL coach and move Grantham to DC? Every team could use a guy like Krumrie... The guy is awesome. You want an intense butt-kicker? Here he is.

Even if you don't agree with the idea, I highly recommend this show just to see him on there. Amazing stuff.

those missing rings episodes are great.

The buffalo one that is on now, is one of my favorite americas game segments.

I still dont know how they didnt win a superbowl, what a great team that was in 90.

Yeah, I was just thinking we need to draft a Darryl Talley this draft, too. :)

I just watched the show Missing Rings on NFL Network about the 88 Bengals.
I totally agree about that it's worth watching, brought back some memories about that Super Bowl..it was actually a pretty good game.
I dont know how good a coach Krumrie is, but he was a hell of a player. IF he's a good position coach, maybe he could bring some fire to the team.

My son is a Buffalo fan and it broke his heart to watch his team lose to the Cowboys.

I felt so sad for him. But, I bought him an authenic Jim Kelly jersey.

those shows are very very good, even better than some of the ones of the winning teams.

I'm watching the one of the Vikes now...

What I find amusing is how Chris Carter is shown(and admits) to be a loud mouth WR that a lot of players on his team did not like. It shows him getting in teammates faces, yelling at them on the sidelines, calling them out. And the teammates get back in his face, etc.

Doesn't that sound very familiar? Doesn't that sound like a WR on the Cowboys roster?....hmmmmmm

A WR that Carter says he would "get rid of" if he was in charge of the Cowboys.

I know, I know the difference between T.O. and Carter was that Carter had great hands, but I find it amusing that Carter doesn't like a WR that is alot like the way he was...Carter's a tool

I don't remember Carter ever running to the media to complain about his qb, his offensive coordinator or teammates. He never accused any of his teammates of being a rat.

I also don't recall Carter destroying other teams he played for. Just saying!

great suggestion, more fiery position coaches, who work directly with the players, could go along ways to restoring the roster

does he have any history in the 3-4?

was he there when Jared Allen was there?

I know he was a player who played with passion and emotion. I know he would fall on a sword if it meant success for his teammates. As far as coaching goes, I do not know how much success he has had. In fact, until this thread, I didnt even know he was a coach.

14th Year NFL Coach • 3rd with Chiefs

17090781488A48568814C048D5F52E97.JPG

Entering his 26th year in the NFL as either a player or a coach, Tim Krumrie embarks on his third season coaching the Chiefs defensive line. The 14-year NFL coach joined the Kansas City staff after a three-year stint in the same capacity with Buffalo (2003-05) and eight seasons on the Cincinnati coaching staff (’95-02). His fiery coaching style mixes a hands-on approach with high-intensity drills. He often participates in one of his trademark practice routines, which is a functional football drill to test the character of his players.

DE Jared Allen continued to flourish under Krumrie’s tutelage in 2007, leading the NFL with 15.5 sacks a year ago. Allen earned his initial Pro Bowl invitation and received first-team All-Pro honors in the process. The club’s first Pro Bowl defensive end since DE Neil Smith (’95), Allen posted six multi-sack games in 2007. The Chiefs defense tied for fifth in the NFL with 37.0 QB takedowns last season, registering 4.0 more sacks in three different contests.

Under Krumrie’s guidance, DE Tamba Hali registered a team-high 8.0 sacks and won the team’s Mack Lee Hill Rookie of the Year Award as the club’s top rookie in 2006. Hali was third in the NFL with six forced fumbles and became the first rookie defensive end to start all 16 games for the Chiefs since ‘78.

I'm not calling T.O. a choir boy by any means. I said they are/were both alot alike. Very good WRs, and both are tools.

Some guys may be a wrench, while others may be a screwdriver...but, a tool is a tool.

BTW, Carter did say in the show that he didn't like playing in a team sport because he didn't like having to rely on someone else to help him win

Carter is far from being on opposite sides of the spectrum when it comes to him and TO.

Carter loves to throw stones at TO, but Carter was an alcoholic and drug addict while he was a memeber of the Eagles, TO at least has it together in that department.

He wasn't and isn't perfect.

Same with Keyshawn who loves to talk bad about TO, Keyshawn was just as bad as TO if not worse.

Listening to him talk about Owens smacks of something personel.

Don't know what it is or when it happened, but there something personel going on thier for sure.
At least from Carter's side of things. Maybe a snub, or something said by Owens about Carter's drug history.

I'm just speculating, but it certainly feels that way.
