What kind of team are we?
Do we run to set up the pass?
Do we pass to setup the run?
Do we play zone defense?
Do we crowd the line and challenge opposing WRs?
Are we going to grind it out?
Do we use our air game to force opposing offenses to match it?
Do we play better on the road?
Is there such thing as home field advantage in AT&T Stadium?

Who is this team? Just when you think you might have them figured out, they shape-shift and throw any bit of continuity to the wind. That brings me to the all important word. "continuity"... Where is it? Are these players invested in something that they can all rally around? Something they know will be the thing that consistently drives the team every week?

Let's scratch the whole "they are playing with guys off the street therefore they fail" ideology. Every single team in the league plays with injury and fills holes in a variety of ways over the course of a grueling season. We are no different than anyone else. The upward trending teams tend to generally make the right decisions to maintain that continuity while the downward trenders usually screw up more than they fix. There is absolutely no excuse.. None.. for failing to mount any pressure at all on McCown. I saw a blatant lack of creativity on the defensive line last night. It very much resembled the lack of creativity around consistently providing ways to get Dez open in space.

We lack an identity as a team and the basic creativity necessary to win the measurable number of small battles that take place within the confines of a game. I hope we find a way to get it together. We still have a few weeks to find our stride. Who knows what will happen against GB? That result is about as predictable as our team identity.

We are just a conglomeration of ideas from better, more succesful organizations.

We try to turn Romo into Brady and run two tight ends because its cool in New England.

We bring in grandpa and 0-16 because by golly it worked a treat in Tampa.

We rarely agree Blue Star but we are spot on for this one. I've mentioned this several times in previous posts. Without a definitive direction, we're just mediocre. I'll bet an organized GM or Coach could come in here, take these same players, and make winners out of them just by being organized and having a solid foundation/plan in place. Brady & company have won and are consistently a perennial winner. Why? Because they have a solid plan in place, and everything is build around Brady. They continue to roll out average receivers yet they continue to be explosive.

They draft good, they don't change their stripes. Their coach is super intelligent, has his team ready to play EVERY game. They are always in the hunt to win the Super Bowl. Whether it happens or not is not the point, just give yourself a chance.

Spot on Clove. The signs are blinding and deafening. It's nice to agree every once in awhile. ;)

The identity is a three ring circus with Jerry in the spotlight. Winning is an after thought as long as you have cage dancers and pizza rap commercials.

On defense: We're just historically bad. That's our identity.

On offense: I'm of the opinion that we should come out throwing every single game. Let Romo sling it around and get in a rhythm and hope you can stay in the game. If he throws picks, so be it.

Our identity is to continue trending downward. we've gotten worse over the last 3 years. So in like 7 years when were 3-13 jj will do something and get us back to 8-8.

I don't see JJ still as involved in 7 or 8 years as he is today. That will be a major positive. The reality of the situation is that he is still very much invested both financially and emotionally in the team. Waiting him out will be an exercise in patience.

WE HAVE NO IDENTITY. Fully agreed that the only way for us to win going forward is to AIR it out and go down fighting. The Bears last night came out throwing while we kept running the friggin ball. Yes we were very productive running it but at the end of the day Romo had 100 yards passing...Which hurts us more, no run game or zero passing game. Next 3 games we should be wide open all out attack...it's the only way that we will win the division and if we don't at least we went down with our best.

OK, you can flame me but I'm gonna say it...we have an identity and it's "chokers".

I don't like it, I cringe when I hear people say it, but I hear more people saying that about us lately than anything else.

The identity of a Jerry Jones run team (since Jimmy and his players went away) is a team of total chaos. I don't know all the history right off hand, but the GAlloway trade, drafting or picking 2 x baseball players? Allowing Campo to be a head coach here. Picking Quincy Carter cause you're trying to create a generic Mike Vick. The only reason he brought in Parcells' was to get his little palace built. He brought in a receiver, Roy Williams, who had no business being here. He picked Greg Ellis over Randy Moss. Always thought he was smarter than guys who've done this for decades. Tried to show his genius by picking up x baseball players, so funny.

Even last year, he picked a center that was projected as a late second. Turns around and gets another tight end. We can't complain about this defensive line because he didn't try to get any. He didn't try to get a good safety to play in this scheme. He kept trying to build up this offense which still sucks. Mr Jones, your identity is that of a sorry franchise with a cute stadium.

A winning tradition begins with the planting of a seed. An identity..
