I thought Carpenter looked pretty damn nifty out there. Kept many plays alive through sheer athleticism.

He had a lot of practice running for his life in college. I'm glad he looked good tonight.

You're putting the Booty on a pedestal.

I'd rather put it on my lap.

I have never been one to turn down a little "Booty", however in this situation I will pass. Give Mc Gee time and let him develop. No one knows what we have in him yet. Now that we have a real backup the third string is not quite as important.

They liked Booty in the fifth round last year and they liked McGee at the top of the fourth this year. McGee is staying.

Correct, mr. speed. ... Stephen Jones was on TV lamenting the day after that they wanted Booty, maybe even tried to trade up for him at the top of the fifth, but the Vikings got him.

Cowboys had to settle for O. Scandrick ... too bad.

Now everybody is talking about redshirting McGee in favor of Rudy Carpenter. Well Rudy seemed to have more presence than we've seen from McGee, whatever that means ... (but so did Brooks Bollinger) ... Rudy was a prolific passer in a passing offense while S. McGee is just getting adjusted to the pro style, a work in progress. ... But who would you trust most running the first-team Cowboys in an emergency this year, McGee (better physical tools) or Rudy (maybe, this year anyway, a little better awareness ?)

once upon a time our curent probowl QB looked like a hopelessly lost, overmatched scrub...that would have been his rookie yr in TC and preseason

we arnt cutting the QB we just drafted in the 4th rd.

Dbair, I trust your judgment and your posts are great, but gotta call you out on this one. ...

Tony looked freaking great in HIS FIRST PRESEASON GAME (and really anytime he got in games in preseason) ... His first or second drive (I think he played the fourth quarter of his first game) he drove the team down, called a QB sneak with time running out and won the game. (Against Bill Parcell's wishes, he didn't call a time out).

Tony "never" looked outmatched, he always looked good. Always had presence (like Rudy did tonight). The problem was that Parcells didn't like Tony's swashbuckling attitude, too edgy and dangerous and improvisational. So he hardly ever got in games. Instead it was freaking Hensen and Chad Hutchison, guys with good "tools" like McGee. (Hey, I'm not against McGee, I'm just sayin' .... ) ... Most of the time the toolsy guys make it, but not always ...

McGee isn't going anywhere. They've invested in him and no way in hell would they ditch him this soon.

McGee has at least a couple of years locked up.

I hate to call you out in your call out post, BUT....

Way back in 2004, in Romo's 1st pre-season game against the Texans, he went 3/11, 37 Yds, 0 TD's, 2 INT's

I don't personally remember watching that game, but based on the numbers, I would say he was over matched. I wouldn't call that looking good either.

Now to tell the whole story, Romo's stats for that entire pre-season were not too bad, but his 1st game was not good at all.

His stats for that pre-season were

24/39 250 yds 1 TD 2 INT's

McGee's stats this pre-season

9/15 86 yds 1 TD 0 INT's

OMG dude...you better go back and look at some of those preseason games.

He wasnt even going to make the team his rookie yr, but Q-Bong did his thing and got whacked.

Also fyi, Romo's first preseason game was also Parcells first preseason game, and we got shutout by the Cards on the road.

That QB sneak game was his 2nd yr. It came one week after we got shutout (again) in our preseason opener. Romo had 3 or 4 turnovers that game.

I think the first game I remember seeing Romo do well was that last preseason game of his 2nd yr, when he played alot against KC.

I don't know about that. There was always something there and you could always tell he was more than a scrub.
