...it won't change what I think of Romo or anyone else on this team. Romo is an elite QB and we have maybe 10 other very good players--for us to win, Romo, Witten, Ware, etc. do not have to step up or become leaders or whatever. We need to put a better team around them (including coaches)--don't know if that has happened yet--we'll have a better idea in five months or so.

Hmm. Do we really have about 10 such players on our team?

1-3 Romo, Witten, Ware.
4 Lee's 1 year play seems like a yes.
5-6 Austin & Bryant should be a yes (if they play most of the season at a consistently higher level).
7 Certaily Smith (assuming he's as good at LT as he was in his rookie season at RT)
8 Murry if he returns to great form he briefly played last year.
9 Ratliff still is one of the better DT in the NFL.
10 Bailey, one of best FG kickers in NFL

We'll see:

If Jenkins is healthy, will he play as well as he did about 2 years ago?
How much will Felix Jones really contribute as #2 behind Murray?
Will ILB Carter make a major contribution or even win starter position?
How good will the new vet FB we signed in FA be?
Will 1 of the FA OGs we signed prove to be as good a find as former OG Kosier?
Will OT Doug Free play well at RT throughout this season?

Also how much help will we get in the draft?
Will #1 pick prove to be a legit starter or major contributor who wows us somewhere in his rookie season.
Not happy with our interior OL even if 1 of 2 FA OGs proves to be legit starter. Don't have a legit C & lot of questions about other OG position. Should draft a legit starting C who could sit/develop behind a good vet FA C for at least a year.

Cowboys must have a good draft; no drama necessary. IMHO on defense we must improve DL, CB, S. An upgrade at OLB opposite Ware would be nice but will any be available when we pick? On offense, we need another OG & a C. Witten's successor is a need as he turns 30; also do we have a legit #3 WR on board already? Our backups need to be improved at several positions? Can we add in later rounds assuring that some of them have shown in college to be quality ST?

If the Cowboys win the SB this season after what I've seen from the team the last 2 seasons it's going to change my thinking about a lot of the people associated with the team players and coaches.

but they are not that far from competing for a SB--don't necessarily have to be the best team in the NFL to win it

From what I've seen the Cowboys are far from competing for a SB they've only won one playoff game in 15 years and have missed the playoffs 2 straight years. Competing for a SB and winning one isn't all about talent it's about great coaching, mental toughness, leadership and showing a lot of passion and desire especially down the stretch. It's the teams that find ways to win in the 4th quarter not ways to lose that are there in the end. The Cowboys have had the talent at least offensively but the team lacks the coaching and the intangibles you see with the Giants to get it done.

All he has to do is MAN UP! And stop acting like a little ***** when he's faced with big games with big pressure and this dude can win. But it's hard to ask an undrafted free agent that no one wanted with no pedigree to go up in MONSTER GAMES, "consistently" and pull those out. It's a lot to ask of the guy.

Right on cue.

Defense needs to get better, oline play needs to Improve and Garrett needs to call plays to help the team succeed.

Somewhere there is a rack missing its aluminum foil hat yet again.

So let me see how this works. You post a thread talking about a subject. I disagree with "said" subject, I'm an outcast? Is this how this works?

Feels like I'm in another country.

Wow. Really? Still blaming Romo and Ware for Quincy and Ebenezer?

No that would be Jerry's fault, the real issue with this team.

If you think Romo is even close to the biggest problem on the team than you may very well be from another country.... one without NFL programing would be my guess.

If you think a QB can be great and only have 1 play off victory in 6 years in today's NFL, and you think that stats have anything to do with actual winning playoff games and Super Bowls, then you need to stop watching football.

Should be titled "if Boys fail miserably next year..." it won't change your opinion about them. i think Romo is very good but "elite" I see room for three maybe four if a certain qb is healthy again.

The core of the team Romo Witten Ware Rat obviously can only do so much.
