Didn't we give Fabini a nice signing bonus last year also?

He lost the starting RT race to Colombo.

But if Colombo doesn't return, is Fabini an option at RT?

I highly doubt we signed him to a 1 year deal.

I'd sooner draft a guard and take my chances with Davis at RT.

Me too. I'm afraid people are about to find out exactly why I was so opposed to the Fabini signing last year.

Not sure if the coaching staff would be willing to insert a rookie OG in there.

I agree, we should draft a Guard. But not sure if he'll make an immediate impact.

Doubt it -- I'd expect McQ would get the first crack over there. I doubt Fabini will be on the roster this year, although I expect we'll hold onto him until after the draft - if we don't re-sign Colombo, if we don't sign another free agent T, and we can't find a T in the draft then Fabini might stay.

I'd rather see McQ get the shot at RT before Fabini. They were high on McQ last year. Infact, I believe he was active on game day more then Fabini was...

I do not see why not, especially considering the alternatives.

If we don't sign Colombo back, Davis plays tackle. Get used to that. He's too big of an investment just to waste inside if we have a declining talent like Fabini at right tackle (or even a rookie).

It is easier to hide a rookie guard than it is a bad tackle. Any time.

didn't BP say you could turn fabini around backwards and he wouldn't give up many sacks...or was it... turn him around backwards and he would give up his sack:eek:...I just can't seem to remember

per Spags to which you could apply the thinking to any young guy on the line:

Now I know what Bill Parcells had to say about Cory Procter. But the guy has yet to play an NFL game.

"We're not going to count on a guy who hasn't played, playing," Stephen Jones said. "You got to have more options."

Or more than one inexperienced solution to a potential problem.
--------

So McQ, Proctor, Berger may get shots, but I doubt it. They lose out on Colombo, I think they go get another vet. And based on the rest of Spags article, I don't think Fabini makes the roster this year.

Sounds to me like he knows they're gonna get Colombo signed.. Lord, I sure do hope so anyway... That's no suprise about Fabini, he was almost cut last year..

It would be great if Colombo was signed, hope
they can do it.It's not like Romo needs a wall
built around him.The line would be scary if Colombo
stays and the running game would benefit as well.

I had, and have, no problem with that signing because I knew it would be as a backup.

As a backup I have no problem with him.

Starter...heck no.:laugh2:

That would be very unfortunate as we cut Pettiti last year to keep Fabini on the roster. I would hope Fabini could at least be a solid backup on either side. Hopefully he is 100% recovered from his injury that limited his strength early last year.
