If Costa is healthy, does he play guard?

It almost seems certain Fredrick will be the starting center come next year, so does that mean Costa will get moved from center to guard? Or a possible release of him?

I'm glad we have good competition at C now and some at G as well.

You got that right! Plus, the Cowboys got a need, a two for one deal.

I agree. i wanna see what happens at Guard. If Costa can be healthy i think he's the best option at C. I wanna see if Kowalski is back to form too.

I wouldnt hate a OL of

Smith|Frederick|Costa|Kowalski|Parnell

I would imagine Frederick would be much better suited for RG than Costa. And if I had to choose between Bernie or Costa I would probably choose Costa. Not sure how the FO will see it, but we might be best off with Costa at C and Frederick at RG.

YES. In my mind, it's as simple as taking away the responsibility of the center/quarterback transfer to maximize Costa's game. Frederick is a smart dude, there's no reason he can't play center.

The decision should be about making the guys around Fred comfortable, because as we're led to believe, he can play guard or center.

I truly believe Costa can be a solid starting guard, in the few games we saw of him healthy last year, he played great.

I don't see a way Fred starts anywhere other than center. Costa will probably be his back-up and potentially play a guard position, or back those up too IMO.

Supposedly Fred doesn't have the greatest footwork to play guard and he has the body to plug up the middle and get push.

It will be an interesting camp battle, still hoping we sign one tackle in FA.

That sounds good...I like it. This whole team is changing. And nobody can really say or think about what this team is going to be like this coming season.

Right now, all the players on the Dallas Cowboys are working for a job. Plus, some new guys coming in..

;)

I just want the best five guys out there. And I hope we have more luck with injuries this year.

Frederick will ne the starting center on day one.
Either Costa is a backup center, guard or off the team.

with two teams in our division running a 3-4 and the number of teams league wide going to it, I would be surprised if Fred isn't our starting center. His ability to handle the 3-4 NT is what gives him the potential to be among the better centers in the league.

It was suggested that Cook and Costa will battle for Guard positions
and Frederick will play C. Parnell is not the answer at OT. Dallas will
sign whoever Miami doesn't. I think they are waiting for Miami to pay the next OT (Winston) so the market for the lowest is set.

This is most likely what we are looking at day 1:

LT Smith LG Costa C Frederick RG Cook RT Clabo

I can't see Costa playing guard. He doesn't have the reach or lateral movement skills needed. At center, his deficiences can be covered better.

Cook is strictly a backup and I hope he is pushed out. The guy can't run block. Costa has issue's with power which is why he needs to be surrounded by two big OGs. I don't think he can play OG as a starter-just in an emergency situation.

I think it is far more likely to see Costa/Bernadeau (he actually did not look bad when he did) fighting it out at Center and just plugging Fredrick at Guard.

Gives us good competition at C and locks down a solid guard spot.

I think Cook is kinda tall for guard + from what I have read Frederick could be a better guard, but to me he looks like a kickass center. Would be great if come Dec they all grow mountain men beards if we are in the playoff hunt. I think our downfall this yr will be our dl...not enough rotation or quality imo.
