Looks like the Eagles and the Giants will be happy to select one of the top three OT's in the first round.

Every Mock draft I've seen has both of them going OL in the first round. You can bet if BC's Costanza doesn't go to the Cowboys, you'll be seeing him twice a year anyways.

I fully expect to see Dallas take an OL either with the 1st or 2nd rd pick.
With 2 picks in the top 40 I think we can get a couple of quality players including help along the OL

If there's a team Left Tackles don't want to see twice a year it's us.

1 very huge reason. DEMARCUS WARE

If Anthony Costanzo thinks he got handled by Robert Quinn 2 years ago he would think that was a day in the park compared to dealing with the NFL's best pass rusher.

So what if we don't draft Costanzo? The Eagles have Peters so he isn't going there and if the Giants want him let them have him.

I'm fine with Carimi or Sherrod. We'll get a shot at 1 or the other. Might have to move up a bit with our 2nd but 1 of them will be there.

We're idiots if we don't address the OL in the first two picks this year.

........then my head will explode!

This team's needs in order:

1) Starting caliber ROT.
2) Starting caliber FS.
3) LOT reserve. Hopefully someone who can also play OG and offer competion.
4) OG/OC Type to push incumbents and create depth.

2 Reasons why it won't happen in the 1st or 2nd rounds:

1. Ryan fully expects a marquee player in the 1st round for his defense.
2. Jerra does not think that way. Jerra sees instant riches in WRs (not that he will pick one this time in the 1st) and other star players with flash.
Jerra's thought process is that OL picks in the early rounds are boring and he can always pick some lame player in the 4th round and later.

With Jerra in the war room, don't expect picks that will build for the future. Expect instant flash that Jerra "The Football Guy" will pursue. Even with Jason in the room.

He has drafted OL within the 1st 2 rds 6 times since Jimmy left. I think for anyone on this board to know how Jerry thinks is a bit funny.

By the way in that same time period Dallas has drafted a WR only 2 times with a pick in the 1st 2 rds.

Would rather address it in free agency.

I would not be surprised to see us get an OL in FA but I think we will see the Cowboys take an OL player within the 1st 2 rds of this draft.

I guess I should say, I'd rather pick up an immediate starter in free agency. I'd also like to take at least two OL in our first four picks. I just don't expect those guys to be able to start immediately.

I agree. As for a rookie starting always hard to know we have had guys as rookies contribute on the OL before but I would agree you can't bank on it.

Owned.

Good find Dooms.

Offense only functions at a fraction of what it could with a right side of the O Line that currently cant get out to the second level to block. Question is do they fix it in FA or the draft. I think they are very interested in Smith but I could easily see them going the FA route.

I see people claim Jerry is looking only at the clamor picks yet when is the last time Dallas drafted a QB with a 1st or 2nd? RB we did get Felix and J. Jones yet both times those were more about need. Outside of that LB, CB and defensive lineman are not what I would be calling clamor picks

I would put a lot of effort into bolstering the O-line this off-season if I was in charge.

We have enough talent at the skill positions as it is.

Not everyone agrees, but I am of the opinion that O-line is the most important position on offense.

Just think how good we would be if Romo wasn't normally running for his life back there, .. or how much better we would be if we could convert on a high percentage of short yardage and goal line running plays.

Change nothing else but those two things and we become a much better team.

Do you really believe all this or is it just fun saying it?

Well I don't think you can count on any rookie OL to start day one. I do think you can be hopeful of it, anticipate it and work toward making it happen.

For me it's not just about one or two guys or just 2011. I want to take a shutgun approach to the problem with quantity and quality.

I'm hopeful that the Cowboys recognize the problem and target mutiple OL type prospects worthy of selctions in all 7 rounds. Then execute a plan to draft 3-4 of them within the 7 rounds as the draft dictates.

The top of the need list is ROT. If we got only one day one starter out of this draft, I really think this is the spot we'd want to fill.

Then we need at least two more quality OL prospects. A interior OC/OG type and a LOT.

This is how I'd like to see the draft play out.

We trade down from 9 to 20 and pick add the 52nd and 84th picks.

Then we got to work with......9, 40, 52, 71, 84,109, 140, 171, 209

1st(20)...ROT
2nd(40)..FS
2nd(52)..LOT/OG
3rd(71)...OC/OG
3rd(84)...DE
4th(109)..CB/S
5th(140)..WR
6th(171)..LB
7th(209)..OG

A lot of quality player get taken in the top100 each year and this year we could get 5 of them to address needs.

From your lips to Jerry's ear, but it still has to fit.

No one wants that more than I, but let me play devil's advocate.

No decent trade down offers are there to be had and the best to players by far when our 9th and 40th picks come up are DE and WR.

Well then you take the DE and WR. This is still all about drafting the best players to ultimately field the best team.

Now we can part company with Williams and let Spears go via FA.

And with the dollars saved we can now afford to spend big on one or maybe two FA offensive lineman.

Not my first choice but it beats reaching in the draft.
