If Dak stays, does it mean the same for Big Mike?

There isn’t anything to fix with Dak, but there’s a lot of things to fix with this team that continues to put games on his shoulders in the playoffs. This isn’t about fixing the QB who’s been leading us to 12-5 seasons, it’s about fixing the team. No head coach is going to be able to fix the team with the Joneses running the show.
Wow.

Orlovsky posed this question on ESPN to a Dak apologizer:

One game elimination - who you taking? Can you get to 10 other QBs? Yes...there's something that needs to be fixed when a guy is below average when it comes to one game elimination play.

Dak vs Mahomes - Mahomes

Dak vs Allen - Allen

Dak vs Burrow - Burrow

Dak vs. Jackson - Jackson

Dak vs. Stroud - Stroud

Dak vs. Love - Love

Dak vs. Purdy - Purdy

Dak vs. Stafford - Stafford

Dak vs. Rodgers - Rodgers

Dak vs. Hurts - Hurts

Say we go 12-5 again and lose in the first round of the playoffs and Dak play horrible. Who goes/stays?

Unless Dak has success in the playoffs this year, next year he'll be 32 with a 2-5 playoff record and asking for 60-65M per year.
Yup.

Dak has 1 playoff win since 2018.

1 Pro Bowl since 2018.

thats why Lance is taking snaps.

That fan is an idiot if he thinks Jackson, Purdy, Hurts, Stafford and Love could do any better with the teams we have that crap the bed in the playoffs. Even the other QBs wouldn’t go far in the playoffs with the Cowboys. There’s no way any QB could win with some of the defensive performances we’ve had. CJ Stroud sucked against Baltimore in the playoffs because his team was being manhandled. Stroud couldn’t do anything. If Dak had a game like that, the entire fan base would have dumped on him.

Unless there is an epic collapse in 2024, I think big Mike gets another contract.

They have to like the progress Lance has made under Big Mike.

Firing the HC can cause a lost season. That time is precious to Jerry.

The 2025 draft/season is critical. The schedule will be easier and we are getting reinforcements at RB1 and likely RG1.

Only challenge you have is almost no one agrees with your assessment of the talent surrounding Dak - including Dak. He bragged about his weapons and how we would take "his guys". The league recognizes the Cowboys roster by all pro/pro bowl nods...and top 100 where the players vote. So, nah...Dak just chokes.

I got news for you there’s a lot of people who get paid to talk football that agree with my assessment. I could care less with a bunch of Dak hating fans think on a post board. He’s had a lot of talent around him, but it doesn’t show up in the playoffs. Parsons is an absolute game wrecker during the regular season until he begins to fizz out in December and has nothing left in the tank when the postseason arrives. The guy only has one sack and four QB hits in four playoff games. Nick Bosa had more than that in the playoff game against the Lions last season.

No one on defense steps up when it matters most. We can’t run the ball and we commit one penalty after another that wipes out good plays on defense and offense. Dak has made pro bowls and he’s in the top 100 players every year. He’s one of the top QBs in the league and it’s not even debatable. If he was anything like with some of you casual, armchair fans try and portray him to be, he wouldn’t be in position to reset the QB market. He would be carrying a clipboard if he was what some of you try and spin he is.

We were a12-5 #2 seed, and lost to a 9-7 #7 seed at home..... and we were relatively healthy. Dak laid an egg in the first half and the game got out of hand. We had a top 5 defense, better receivers than the Packers, a better offensive line than the Packers, and arguable a better RB stable as well. Leadership reflects directly on performance. We showed we had a better team over the course of the season, yet we lost, badly. If Dak is the leader of this team, he failed miserably. If he isn't, why would we want to keep him?

wow, a lot of car salesmen in this place. i like what im seeing, if i wanted to be a corrupt senator, some of you guys make horrific look pleasing.

Dak led us to 12 wins ,no, teams either had to collapse and or were already bad and no amount of talent was helping them for us to do that. Im a Dak fan and its not all on him but what is on him is his to own and driving this team to 12 wins is not on him. We beat bad teams with teh occasional surpise wins we do every year. Who did we own, anyone who wasnt up to par. What did we do in the spot light, shrink when the game was on.

Call it a team effort to change the sails, fine, lets play that game, defense played one type of way and when it was punched loudly in the mouth, the team responds as honestly as it could, it folded.

Want to look at the other side, this team hates the red zone, because the redzone rejects it like cheerleaders do poor guys. The only team that when they do score its like winning a fishing contest in a stocked pond and its the only team at the competition.

All thats being debated here is what side you are on "ive finally figured it out" or "hey i need 4 more punches before i realize im in a fight"

Come sunday, all the talking is done, all the stats from last year dont matter, only the field decides the facts. Get in the last of your talk because once the season starts, that starts telling you immediately what you are looking at. The rest is up to life.

But i think we can all agree, the more mediocre it is, the happier most are. And the culture of the Cowboys is, "Serving up Mediocrity for over 2 decades

Big Mike shouldn't be in this position in the first place. He should have got a new deal from Jerry this offseason. It's disrespectful to treat your coaching staff that way. After the third in row 12-5 season, Jerry should have done the right thing by giving Mike another 5-year deal. Extend Dak and make things right with your head coach, Jerry. Shame on you!

Ignore the guys who play football, including the leader of “his guys”

Think about what you wrote … “paid to talk…” How much is Jerry paying you to say this backwards nonsense?

Jerry pays a lot of people to talk … doesn’t make them accurate.

Dak didn’t play well in the first half but our defense began quitting on the Packers opening possession. Our top 5 defense during the regular season looked like a bottom 5 defense against the Packers. It doesn’t matter how much better we were than Green Bay, our best performances during the regular season didn’t show up against them. The performances we had against Arizona, San Francisco, and Buffalo is what showed up against Green Bay. The Packers were hot team that were playing better football than we were entering the playoffs. One of our own players admitted our defense quit. After a rough first half, Dak started getting it going, but it was too little too late because our defense could never make a stop. He kept battling the entire game. He set a Cowboys franchise playoff record with over 400 passing yards.

He set another Cowboys franchise playoff record with 41 completions. He tossed 3 TDs and led us to 32 points, while our defense kept allowing Green Bay to score touchdowns. Not once could we hold them to an FG. When San Francisco got down big to Detroit in the NFC conference game, their defense stepped up and got them back in the game. Purdy was having a bad day, but he had help from his defense. Our defense looked like garbage throughout the entire game. I’ve never seen a softer group than what we have on that side of the ball. Once we got punched in the mouth last season, we laid down and we even laid down to a bad AZ team. You fans that are putting it entirely on Dak are wearing blinders.

Jerry continues to praise Mike for the job he's done with Dak. He's gotten us 12 wins in the last 3 seasons during the regular season. Would Dak have any influence on if they keep Mike or not? Or would they make Dak accept going with a new coach??? Please give your thoughts, I know Jazz has them!!!!
I think fat Mike probably wants to retire. He got like 25M over these last 5 years. What does he care?

Mike only gets extended if he leads the team to playoff excess. Dak will get extended regardless.

Dak gives us the best chance to be relevant for the next 3 years. As an older fan of the Cowboys, myself and other fans my age and older, are running out of time to ever see the Cowboys in the super bowl. I will take being relevant right now over a rebuilding era. Life is too short. I still watch and cheer for the Cowboys albeit with lowered expectations, and I would still rather a watch a 12 win team than a 4–5-win team for the next few seasons. jmo.
