Sigh, there are other teams ya know right? Is DET and GB chopped liver? There will be a 3-way tie for two seeds and we are the odd man out unless something crazy happens.

We do beat SEA in H2H but there in lies the problem....it wil not be H2H.

In a 3 way tie, head to head is not the determing factor. We have a worse conference record than practically everybody.

Just need both Seattle and Arizona to lose next week and we have a bye no matter what we do.

If Seattle goes 12-4
Green Bay or Detroit goes 12-4
Dallas goes 12-4

We still get #3 seed because we will have the poorest conference record.. 0 chance of falling to #4 since south is atrocious this year.

Washington game is meaningless, probably best to rest injured players and maybe even most of the starters...

Both Seattle and Arizona would have to lose week 17 for Dallas to get the #1 or #2 seed.
I could see Zona losing at San Francisco, but not Seattle losing at home vs St Louis.

Too bad we play before them.

Romo is right about that much. The very likely scenario is that the Cowboys will host the loser of Sunday’s NFC North championship game between Detroit and Green Bay.
That said, the Cowboys can potentially secure a No. 2 seed and a bye week given two upsets. If the 7-8 San Francisco 49ers upset the visiting Cardinals next week, and the 6-9 St. Louis Rams upset the Seahawks at the same time, then Dallas would slip into the No. 2 seed, behind the NFC North champion.
It sounds like a steep challenge. The Cowboys would need to be the beneficiary of not just one, but two improbable results. Having said that, if both the Cardinals and Seahawks lose next week, Dallas won’t even need a win in Washington to secure a first-round bye.

What if we win and zona loses? Doesn't matter what Seattle does.

Even if Seattle and Arizona win, we still get a #1 seed if Detroit and GB tie, if we beat the Skins. Ignore that scenario if you want, but it will still be possible when we take the field at noon on Sunday at FedEx.

Well hey, I read the rules and I still needed someone to explain to me that they determine the lowest seed first. Because if they did it the other way, its a different and probably more fair and logical result.

Most of us know that the Cowboys lose in a three way tie, but, and I'm one of them, don't understand why they set it up that way. If Dallas beat Seattle heads up and Seattle didn't play the third team involved, why would the NFL not eliminate the loser of the one heads up game first, then go to other tie breakers between the remaining two teams? I have never heard the logic behind the system as it currently stands.

We just won a big game.
We just assured ourselves a playoff spot.
We just won the NFC East
We just eliminated the Eagles from the playoffs.

Chill the heck out and quit being jerks to each other over something so silly.

Yes, it does. If we win and Arizona loses, Seattle still gets the #1 seed and Green Bay gets the #2 seed if Seattle wins. If Seattle loses, we get the #2 seed.

Dallas clinches home-field advantage throughout NFC playoffs with:

1) DAL win + ARI loss or tie + DET/GB tie

Dallas clinches a first-round bye with:

1) DAL win + SEA loss or tie + ARI loss or tie OR

2) DAL win + DET/GB tie OR

3) DAL tie + SEA loss + ARI loss OR

4) DAL tie + SEA tie + ARI loss or tie + DET/GB does not end in a tie
