If Dallas had lost like Detroit did what would we be saying?

I could not believe how Detroit lost the game last nite, it was kinda "Dallas like".

Led the entire game, had a 17-0 lead, had Turnover to give GB a easy 2nd TD,

Then Allowed a late comeback win, and then the hail mary play !

From a coaching standpoint Detroit did several things wrong.

On their last possession, they took a chance and got a first down passing, that was playing to win

to me, but then after that they decide to play not to lose, and no more passes, and the

give up run on 3rd and 12.

All they needed was 1 more first down, and they win the game.

They actually had 2 downs to get a first if your going to be bold.

But no they wimped out , ran then punted, and not a good punt as GB got it at their 20.

GB gets in range of a hail mary, but rodgers need a good chance to launch a long pass.

So do they come with some pressure?? no they rush 3 and play coverage, and then none

of their guys play the ball, they are covering lol.

with a hail mary I think you play the ball not the receivers, the ball is coming to one spot, so just

play that.

GB had one guy who did just that, he waited and watched the ball and played the ball and

caught it.

The 3 man rush allowed Rodgers to run outside , no one in front of him and launch the ball

with a running start. Just what simms had said he needed to do.

To me it was bad coaching and detroit looked unprepared to defend a hail mary play like that.

GB looked like they were prepared.

Detroit played a great game and lost over not being able to handle the last minute of the game.

And I will add the refs helped GB, but to me it was more playing to not lose, and not being

prepared for the hail mary play.

JG has been playing to not lose and it has cost us some games, that had we won, things would

be different right now.

I think it is better to play to win, be bold, and most of time it will pay off.

I would rather be bold and lose than play it safe and timid and lose.

The coaching down the stretch was a little weird. It's like they were playing to win until the game was actually on the line, then they shriveled up. I thought for three quarters that game was going to save Caldwell's job. Now I think it might do the opposite.

With all that said, when you lose to a 60+ yard hail mary, all you can do is throw your hands up and look to the sky. Some times hail marys are answered. Last night, one was.

If dallas had lost like detroit did what would we be saying?

Seeing as how Hail Marys have an 11% success rate I'd be calling for the DB coaches head. It wasnt well played.

I thought the 102 yard kickoff return in the closing seconds was just as bad.

The fact that this thread even needs to be made on a Cowboys forum let's you know how we feel about our coach lol.
We relate to heartbreaking stuff like this.

my thought at end was at first wow, how could they blow this, then I thought of many dallas games in last seconds, and late in game
where they just blow something and lose.
This just seemed like something I would see dallas doing.

The bad thing was detroit outplayed GB and should have won.

I would blame garret in this type situation, but this also shows he is not alone in doing poor coaching .

GB beat us out of the playoffs last season with us playing not to lose.

You can lose either way you play it. There are percentages, and then there's just going out and somebody making a play. There were plays to be made in the run-out-the-clock series, too, to avoid getting into that situation in the first place. They just didn't make them.

That said, I really feel for DET, because that team has gotten jobbed by officiating more in recent memory than anyone I can remember this side of the SEA in the PIT Superbowl back in 2006 (?).

yes Detroit got shafted in the game with us last year, and now this when they were trying to make a run, and had won 3 in a row.

And I would rather lose after playing bold and taking chances, than lose playing it safe.
Same thing with a win, it would feel better winning being bold than playing it safe like we did in the miami game.

We've lost way more games in recent memory in dramatic fashion than any other team. I'm tired of seeing our games on NFL replay.

Sorry I don't have sympathy for other teams that go through a sequence of events that seems to occur for the Cowboys at least a handful of times each year.

There is no way in the world throwing in that situation is the right play. Killing 40 seconds and punting is the smart thing. Those extra 40 seconds would go a long way towards helping GB get in FG position.

Instead of worrying about GB moving the ball 45yards in a minute - certainly well within the realm of possibility - they set up a situation where the only way they lose is on a completed Hail Mary. Unfortunately for them, that's exactly what happened (and even then it took a poor call to give GB 15 yards and extend the game by one extra play).

I didn't see Calvin Johnson in on the Hail Mary.

If they overlooked that then that is bad coaching.

I would be in for a 12 posts on a 20 page thread.
