this season, it's going to be a tough road to and through the playoffs.

With that being said, Jerry needs to go after the best FA FB available next year. It's obvious what a competent FB means to this offense.

hardly a year goes by and we are not trying to get a better FB. We have tried converting LBs and drafting some and going FA for some; just seems like we cannot get one that can both get it done the way we want and last.

I was really hoping Jerry would have signed the guy that was the lead blocker for Arian Foster last year. Without looking it up, his name eludes me, right now.

Vonta Leach. He's a good one.

Not sure what's out there, but I would certainly search practice squads and free-agent options for the best blocker we can get.

I think what's hurt us before in the fullback search is we've always looked for that guy who can block, catch and even run a little. Fiametta has shown that if all we can get is a lead blocker, that's enough.

If Fiammetta is done, it's a huge loss for us. And if this is the key, Jerry needs to draft/find the best BLOCKING FB out there. No converting, none of that, someone who does this and only this.

All of this^^^^^^^^^^^

Why would Fiammetta be done?

His legend around here is growing like Tashard Choice and Ogletree once did.

While I appreciate his help with the running game is he that irreplaceable?

They don't even graduate fullbacks out of HIGH SCHOOL these days. What makes you think it's as simple as you're making it?

Well I wouldn't give up on Fiammy yet, he has a whole week and a half to recover from whatever illness he has.

If not, Hillis will probably be available, can do all those things you named, and has blocked for Felix before (if we ever decide to give him carries lol).

No kidding. If a scrap-heap FB is the key to our playoff hopes, we have bigger issues.

You guys are scaring me. Has their been an update why would he be gone?

Some medical issues that might keep him out for awhile I think? That's what it seems like they're saying in the other thread. I really want to see Chapas at least.

Hillis? Hillis? Are we talking about the running back from Cleveland that is trying to get paid like a franchise running back this year?

:laugh2:

Yeah, him. I was just throwing a name out there that could do all the things he listed, not saying we would sign him.

I'm fine with Fiammy, but I wouldn't overrate him like some have a tendency to do here.

ESPN article has Jerry saying Fiametta might be done for year.

His mysterious illness might actually be post-concussion syndrome, which can actually mimic flu-like symptoms or something like that. It would be a real bummer if he is done, but people have been a little over the top on the Fiametta love around here.
