out at some point during the season, who do we play at Left Tackle? Since we did not get to see a replacement when he was playing with one arm last year, the thought of Flo going down for a few games concerns me since the coaching staff doesn't seem to have any faith in who is currently on the roster....thoughts?

unless he is broken he isn't missing games

if he goes out it will be for the season, and any team in the league would struggle if they lost their starting LT.

Flo is a warrior, he won't go down(knock on wood)

Doug Free, I'm guessing. He's been the listed back up there for a while now.

That or we move Bigg to LT and stick someone else in at RG. Jerry mentioned that as a possibility once when we signed him.

In game, it'd likely be McQuistan, given we've used him as the swing tackle. In the next game, I'm sure Free would get the spot.

My guess is to move bigg Davis to LT and insert Holland to RT Guard ,Thoughts ?

that may actually be the long term solution the coaches would go for. Good thinking.

If it isn't Free, there's no point in the guy still being on the roster. If he's that inept, he's another James Marten and the team should stop wasting time on him and look elsewhere.

The thought of moving Davis to LT scares me, and it should scare Romo even more. He's struggled at time with speed at guard, I think he'd get abused at tackle at this point.

There are two positions on the team that depth worries me:

Offensive Tackle and Wide Receiver

Bigg was at best average at LT and was very vulnerable to speed rushers. Anyone who watched him knows rthat he is NOT the answer at LT.

Unfortunatley, I think that would be the short term answer.

I say unfortunatley because Bigg would be a downgrade at LT from Flo and Holland would be a downgrade at RG.

Therefore, if Flo goes down, we would have two downgrades along the o-line.

Chances are Free sucks because we haven't learned how to draft OLineman yet. So if Flo does go down, we're probably screwed.

O-lineman generally take a few years to develop. So Free has obviously showed something for us to keep him. Not many rookie or first year OL players make solid contributions. Joe Thomas and Jake Long were the exception to the rule, not the norm.

Look around at Olines and see how long it generally took good ones around the league to come into their own. I'd say it's an average of three years or so.

I'm very concerned about our offensive line. It just seems like the greats are getting old and injured, and the young aren't living up to their potential. JJ will rue the day he did not pay attention to our OL the past 2-3 years. We needed some quality 1st and 2nd rould OL as of '05-'07, so they'd be getting into their groove now. I have a horrible feeling that our OL will be the reason we do not perform for the next 2-3 years, and by the time JJ realizes this, Witten, Romo, Barber, and Ware will be past their prime years.

I don't think Bigg was as bad as people think at LT for the Cards, they just had a bad team and he wasn't playing exceptional.

My fear is that they would move Bigg to LT and then screw up 2 positions to fix one. I think Bigg is too heavy to play tackle against speed rushers and his feet were never really nimble to begin with. I hope they let the kids play most of the preseason should we get in trouble with Flo going down or even Kosier having problems with his feet. We need to see what we have on the O-Line with the kids on the roster, if they can't play then they need to go and we need to draft kids that can play in year one or two...

Actually, that was what a lot of people said about him but in reality he was one of the better LT when it came to actual sacks given up at Arizona. It was also not a case of Plummer, Leinert and McCown making him look good.

I for one, don't even want to think of Flo getting injured during the season.

Like I always have said, it all begins on the o-line and the d-line....we can't afford to have a quality starter go down.
