If Garrett goes, T.O. stays and Shanahan arrives

This will happen if Garrett leaves. I don't believe they will move up Ray Sherman to OC. With Garrett likely leaving now, there's no way we get rid of T.O. considering Shanahan was pulling for Owens to come to Denver back in 06' but Dallas offered more money.

The wildcard here is Wade because the question is do we name Shanahan head coach, offensive coordinator, or "assistant head coach" like Garrett was? I doubt Wade will accept a demotion to defensive coordinator. Shanahan may not be the best talent evaluator, but we already have the talent!

We need a coach that will DEMAND respect, and Shanahan is that guy. Not to mention the fact that Coach Shanahan is a great offensive playcaller.

Bottom line is, this is going to be one crazy offseason!

I think you too easily dismiss the notion that Sherman won't simply be promoted to OC. I know a lot of us are pinning our hopes on Garrett leaving and Shanahan arriving, but I'm not willing to concede that as some sort of certainty.

Granted, getting Garrett's contract off the books might make Jerry financially more willing to change coaching staffs. But we'll see.

Man I hope that EVERYTHING you said is correct and comes to pass.

I'd love to get Shanahan. I don't think that T.O. is "the problem" in Dallas (and I don't want to talk about it anymore; don't turn this into the umpteenth "T.O." thread), and there's a few DC's on the market who've been shopping themselves a little. Including RON RIVERA from San Deigo, who I wanted to replace Parcells to begin with.

Could you imagine having Shanahan and Rivera running the Offense and Defense respectively? Shanahan's got more "Parcells" in him than "Phillips" for sure, but he treats people with respect. Parcells doesn't respect anybody except a few players that get into his "coven/cult" graces. THAT had a lot to do with his failure in Dallas to win a playoff game.

Shanahan knows how to stare a hole through a players head. But he looks him in the eye and doesn't bull**** anyone. He also is adept at giving credit where credit is due. Players respect and appreciate that. You always know where you stand with Shanahan. He's at the perfect age and temperment, being vastly experienced, wise and knowledgeable, yet still young enough to provide a ton of energy and relate to the players.

I don't see a better candidate out there. Certainly a "no brainer" between him or this "Phillips/Garrett" experiment going on. Think of it this way: If Shanahan were the HC the last two years, do you suppose that maybe Dallas would've won a playoff game? Maybe even a Trophy?!?!? I think so........

The writing is already on the wall with the Brian Stewart firing!! So much for the best assembled coaching staff that JJ said we had...

If Shanny comes on board there will be few carry overs from this staff, we just hired a new ST coach which doesn't make sense if Jerry is going hand everything over to a new HC. All this talk about WP taking a raise to become DC is stupid especially if the HC is Shanahan, Shanahan replaced Wade in Denver and I high doubt he will "work" for a guy that replaced him once and "possibly" twice.

If Dallas hires Shanahan expect a 10-6 or 11-5 year.

11-5 is a definite playoff record in the NFC. 10-6? Good'a shot as anybody.

I'm interested in PLAYOFF wins. Look what regular-season glory got us? Not only us, but Tennessee, the Giants, Carolina, Miami??? I'm "over" that drill.

Get Shanahan, get Gruden, get Cowher.....................just get it done.
