If I was a stud athlete coming out of college and drafted by a team I hate

Pondering the question I posed to myself. If I was a stud athlete coming out of college and drafted in the first round by a division rival (pick which team you hate the most), would I be happy? I mean, playing in the NFL is every football player's dream, right? Becoming an instant millionaire is great, right? AND, what does it matter what team you play for, as long as you are in the NFL. HOWEVER, I cannot fathom playing for any other team in the division except for the Cowoboys. Yes, I realize we are staunch, and even fanatical fans, but I just can't see helping the Eagles, for instance, win their first Super Bowl at the expense of the Cowboys. I am competitive and loyal, but that would be a tough one for me.

It's a process.

You leaf high school you play for a collige team you never thought you'd play for. then you leaf collige and some team out east draft you and you go with the flow.
Athaletes have different mindsets as far as playing, loyalties and the brand they wear on their unis.

As a fan i cannot see meinself rooting for another team. As a player I could easily see meinself playing for any team that gift me the big monies, dates with the cheerleaders and free pre-game dinners.

Athaletes are different from you and me.

I hope i half addressed your question. If you are completely happy with meine response, send me money.

There is not a player in the world that would turn down playing for a team that drafted them because they rooted against them as a kid. And their whole family would probably switch allegiances as well. It's all about who's paying the bills.

Well, I could see myself playing for any college (I did), but I could not see myself playing for the Eagles, Commanders or Giants. But I suppose money talks and you-know-what walks.

So you are saying that you would not have reservations about playing for the Eagles and their fans?

I would have signed with them in a heart beat and I'm dead serious. And I would try my hardest to beat Dallas every time we played.

Fans are fans because we do other things for a living. This is just business for them.

I'd get over it. Then depending on how well I thought I fit in with the organization would probably leave via free agency.

I hear you there. I often look back at my posts and have to edit them because auto correct made my post nonsensical.

It was never exactly the plan to play for New York,” Manning said. “It was never, ‘Hey, I want to play here, figure out a way to get here.’ I never expressed that. I kind of was rolling the dice with Oakland and Arizona, if San Diego didn’t pick me, they would have the option, and I visited with Oakland, went out there, and those things. I knew New York was at No. 4, and I think just the history of the New York Giants … the traditions, the ownership with the Mara and the Tisch family … you knew that they were about football. They’re about winning. They’re about doing everything they could do to be committed to building a great football team each and every year and having a great organization.

My point was he was selected and dad found a way to get him traded immediately. So no he wasn't happy to be selected on the Chargers.

If I was a first rounder, sure, I would want to play for dallas...but if I went to philly, and the fans loved me, then I would be happy there...I really wouldn't like going to Washington though...they have no hope of being any good while they have their current clueless little owner

Well, I think out of all the teams, I would rather go to New York, but MAN, my heart would still absolutely still be in Dallas. And besides, I would fell really bad for all of the heartache I caused my fellow Cowboys fans. :(

They were just posturing, thinking they could leverage their name into a some kind of power play. It eventually worked out for NYG, but Rivers did ok with LT and Merriman for a few years.

Once players see the $$$ they won't mind not playing for their favorite team

Well, i think if you break down alot of these college atheletes, they are "fans" but not the die hards we here on this forum are. Most of their lives are spent perfecting their craft and going about their business. i dont think they have enough time to develop the hatred WE here have for these other teams, so when that time comes for draft day, that "allegiance" isnt all that strong.

I agree, but I'm saying playing for a hated rival, being the Cowboys fan you are today. I would do it, but man it would be something I think about at the end of the day. Call me crazy, but I am just being honest. It's kinda like players that hate certain teams in the division and saying they would never sign with them, once they became a free agent.
