First, I'd get this defense fixed. Our pass defense is bad considering the resources that have been poured into it. I'd give this list of guys a look:
Rocky Bernard- Good rotational DT. Could help on running downs and keep our pass rushers fresh. Texas native, played at A&M.
Ray Edwards- Can provide good pass rush, as we know all too well from seeing him opposite Jared Allen in the playoffs a few years ago. Maybe after being out of football a bit, his reported attitude problems have adjusted.
Andre Carter- Older, but if he can still play, he can provide solid pass rush as a backup/rotational DE.
Sterling Moore- At this point, I trust him more than Claiborne. Just bring him back.
As for the offense, we need need need to start passing vertically. This dink and dunk offense is predictable. We need to switch it up. Speed things up, no huddle, more screens, a few trick plays here and there, long bombs to Dez. Put Dunbar out wide and throw a post to him. Anything. These 7 yard passes are all fine and dandy until you're not converting on 3rd downs.
That's all, rant over.
