If I'm Philly, I'm not looking to embarrass Garrett

If I'm them I want to play a close game. Not let them win or anything, but the last thing I want to do is embarrass Garrett to the point that he could be pushed out. The worst thing that could happen to the Eagles is a competent head coach in Dallas...

You let a team stay in the game and they have a chance to pull off an upset. That is a bad strategy all around.

If I am Philly I play to win the game and nothing else, and let the chips fall where they land. You don't play with what may happen a year or two down the road in mind. Garret has lived by not playing football for 60 minutes and letting off the throttle when they had a decent size lead time and time again... its got us to this... .500 football.

Keeping it close if the have chance to blow the Cowboys out wouldn't be a smart idea. Since if it's kept close enough they risk the Cowboys being able to do enough to win. Which would have us tied in the division. If Philly has the chance to, they will win in a blow out tonight.

Please show me in the OP where I said keep the game close. I said play to win, but don't embarrass him. I love strawman arguments.

You can see the smoke. If Garrett does not get us to the playoffs he's gone.

I'm confused by this.....when I think embarrassment, I think blowout. Sooo you're saying they should not blow them out but instead.....but keep the score margin not as.....embarassing? And hope a comeback doesn't happen...Whut?

Well they can probably figure that JG will somehow find a way to blow a close game. lol

People don't think we can keep this close. I think we will. One we have a pretty good defense (although not last week obviously). Secondly this will be the game we open things up. Its always like that, when our backs are against the wall we decide to get creative and score points. The coaches i feel call plays with nothing to lose, as opposed to calling them scared like always.

Philly is a crap firestorm too. They will take what is given to them and feel lucky to walk away with a win. Dallas isn't coming to Philly to concede anything. They are capable of putting it all together for one game against a divisional foe. So let's not over think this, any given Sunday, anyone can beat anyone in the NFC East and Philly isn't thinking about any mercy for Garrett's sake.

I don't have a much faith in this defense as everyone else seems to have. I see easy third down conversions. I see the second CB being able to be in position but having no ability to break up plays. I see a pass rush which disappears when we need pressure. I see a lack of turnovers (until last week). Despite the speed of Jaylon and LVE, I see mobile QBs converting critical downs with their legs.

In short, I just don't think the D can stop a reasonably capable team when it matters.

Actually, I did use the word close. I "misspoke". I just mean I'm not trying to run the score up on them.

Eagles are trying to win the division. Why would they purposely keep it close

True. But, don't think that Philly would ever give up a chance to humiliate the Cowboys on national TV. Especially knowing that they could eliminate the Cowboys out of both playoff and division contention. And that a win tonight means it's just them and the Skins competing for the East.

Before their SB win the Super Bowl for them has been Dallas.... That hasn't changed.... The birds will look to put a beating on us, and unfortunately the way we are playing offensively its only so long our D can hold them off.

I don't think they care. They want to stick the knife in and break it off.

Nobody respects this franchise.

Just look at Tennessee last week. They wanted to stomp on the logo and rub it in.

The Eagles are no different.

Is it even possible? Could Philly lose either way? Consider the following:
1)They want to DESTROY Dallas! They’re the jealous little stepbrother. We haven’t won ANYTHING in 23 years, and we get more attention than they do, and they were hoisting a Lombardi 10 months ago! But if they destroy us, and we bounce Garrett, their “dynasty” will be in danger, and those darn Cowboys will have hope. Plus, most people think they won’t reach the NFCC Game THIS year, so...
2)If there’s people on their side even THINKING that, that seed of doubt is planted, which takes their spark or edge away. That opens the door a sliver for a desperate Cowboy team to pull off the upset, and if that happens, the Philly fan base will MELT DOWN!
