Let me start off by saying, this has been a great season. I can't discredit the way we played football this season and to add to the fact, we finally won a playoff game. I will however say, it's hard to go out like that. I understand, if you don't win a Super Bowl, then you didn't accomplish what you set out to this year. But as a fan, have a little faith in your team.

We have a strong core, people like Keith Brooking, they make us who we are; a team. Please don't compare us to the 2008 Dallas Cowboys, because though, we went out in pretty terrible fashion, we went out as a team. Shaun Shuisham didn't lose this game, Marc Colombo didn't lose this game, Wade Phillips sure as hell didn't lose the game, the team lost it. Keep this team mentality and we'll have a lot to work with in the future.

You've got to understand something, this game wasn't bad for Tony Romo. It will one day turn out to be great motivation for both the team and Romo. Now, knowing Tony Romo, we'd like to think he's going to have a hard time sleeping tonight. He put his heart and soul into this team and at the end, it collapsed on them. We may not want to admit it as fans, but this might be a good thing. Because if I'm Tony Romo, I'm thinking that the Minnesota Vikings beat us today; and even though we looked like a shell of ourselves the previous few weeks and the whole season really, they still beat us. And that right there, should make Tony Romo want it even more.

Look to the rookie QB on the Texas Longhorns, Garrett Gilbert. People thought the game was over when he was in the game. He thought it was over, but at halftime, he changed. He came out the second half, played the game of his life and right when he knew he was going to win his team the game, they fell short. Now why do I reference this? Because we had everything going our way today, finally won that playoff game, Romo was confident, he was going to do it in grand style against his childhood idol! It's a Cinderella story, just like the Gilbert one. But you know what happened? He failed. Well, the team failed. Failure's something a lot of people have a hard time accepting, myself included. But on the outside looking in, failure can be a good thing. Folks, you're not getting anywhere in life without failing at one point in another. But a team, which is what I think we have, will come together and come back stronger. You have to grasp failure and use it as motivation. Add fuel to the fire.

Guess what we learned this season guys. We learned that our team has a lot of heart and they have come together on multiple occasions, we've learned that Tony Romo and the Dallas Cowboys are capable of winning a playoff game, and we learned that they're also capable of achieving greatness. Now some people would call that potential, but I don't like that word, I'd instead use the word hope. I guarantee you Brett Favre had some inspiring words for Tony Romo after that game and I'm a believer that some like that is contagious. Romo will think of whatever he said to him and he'll start to believe it.

Now, there's no doubt about it that a lot of people were let down today. The players, the fans, the coaching staff and they have to be accountable for that. But for the first time, I'm not worried whether or not they will be. I don't see anybody play the blame game tomorrow. I don't see Wade Phillips getting "disheartened" and quitting, I don't see Miles Austin blaming Romo for not getting him the ball enough, I think the whole team will blame themselves. As they should, they got knocked down today. And it didn't kill them, so they're going to get back up and they're going to come back stronger.

Am I saying that they're going to win the Super Bowl next year? No, I'm not going to say they won't, but I'm not declaring them anything this early, but what I will say is that they're not going to be kept down like that again. Romo is too much of a competitor for that. Last year, the Eagles kept us down. They mentally killed us that last home game, it wasn't the game and the implications it had, it was the Eagles. This year, it wasn't the Vikings, it was the game itself. Now this year, we showed the Eagles that last year wasn't going to happen twice. Next year, we've got to show ourselves that we aren't going to beat ourselves twice. And with this team, or with the core of it rather, I'm faithful that it will happen. Let me put it this way, if we make it to a divisional playoff game next year, we will win it.

Now what to look forward to in the offseason? Yeah, I'd try and give Romo some more help blocking, I don't think it's a huge problem, but I think it's the next step. Same with another wide receiver, is it holding us back? Probably not, but it's another addition we can use, as good as our team is, adding even more depth at a position like that can't hurt. Now as far as the biggest thing goes, I think we need to fix the kicker situation, that's the biggest problem I see with the team, I don't think it held us back from going to the Super Bowl, but it's the biggest one problem I see. Missing a field goal doesn't just not give you three points, it kills your momentum.

Another thing is, don't be too hard on the Cowboys after today. Yeah, it sucks, but a lot of things suck. It's not like they've done this type of stuff all year and they have to be accountable for it in the future, but at the end of the day, it also goes to show that anybody can beat anybody on a given day. That's right, the Oakland Raiders from 2009 could have beat us in 1995 in a playoff game. Everybody has an off day, today was our off day. I'm confident that next year we will take another step forward, remember ya'll, this year was a step forward and last week was a huge part of that.

You guys might find me crazy, maybe I'm 18 and young and don't know nothin' yet, but this is what I truly believe. And I know any true Dallas fan won't stop believin.

It's gonna be hard for all of us to get through these next few months. Hell, I'm having a hard time getting through the rest of the day, but we've got to come together as fans and as a team and be prepared for the 2010 season and don't forget what happened to us on January 17th, 2010, because we all need motivation, reason.

Good post. We'll be back next year.

Only one team and one fan base wasn't going to feel like **** at the end of the season. Just sports for ya.

Good points..however, at some point you begin to get diminshing returns on new criteria to promote motivation. Sometimes you have to just "do" it"

Anyone who calls this season a failure honestly doesn't understand what it takes to win in the NFL. Dallas was picked to miss the playoffs in 2009 so I'm proud they proved a lot of people wrong. The next step is to get beyond the 2nd round and hopefully to the Superbowl.

Parity has helped a lot. Dont we have a harder Free Agency this year now due to this. I wonder how the draft plays out and whos staying and who is leaving the team coach wise.

Today was disappointing, that's for sure. Cowboy fans have high expectations and taking a beating like this just makes it worse. For the last couple years we've been saying we'll win it next year. It reminds me of an NFL films interview with the great Bob Lilly and he said an opposing player once called them "Next Year's Champion" implying that they couldn't win the big games. All the talent in the world and they didn't get it done. He said that was the absolute worst thing to be called, it enraged him. They went on to win their first Super Bowl.
I think the Cowboys are close and there were alot of bright spots for this team, but I don't want this team to be "Next Year's Champion" anymore.

How CAN Tony Romo do anymore for this team? Why is it on Romo whos doing everything under teh sun and than some? He wants it more and more but that isnt helping.
