If it was your call...

What would you do with Carpenter,L.Davis,Ellis,J.J,and MBIII.

Carpenter to start at OLB, Ellis to be his backup, Davis at Guard in place of Rivera and have JJ and MBIII compete for the starting job.

If it was my call, I'd move Carp to the outside and draft Willis. If it was my call I'd play Davis at RG. If it was my call I'd scale back Ellis and make him a situational Rush LB or DE on obviouis passing downs. If it were my call I'd keep JJ unless I got a 1st or high 2nd Rd pick for him. If it were my call, I'd keep Barber right where he's at and allow him to play up to his capabilities.

If it were my call.

Training camp is the key.

Have Carp and Ellis battle it out for OLB. Carp showed promise there late in the season and Ellis was a monster before his achilles injury.

I read somewhere that Davis at guard is pretty much etched in stone. It makes sense since he struggled at tackle and we have a need at guard due to Rivera's situation.

Stick with the two-headed-monster at RB. Don't even think in terms of who is "the starter". Both JJ and MBIII have their own strengths and weaknesses. Use the best guy for each situation. They both deserve a lot of playing time. Keep the defense guessing.

Carpenter to ILB, Davis at RG (where he will be), Ellis splitting time with rookie OLB, J.J. and Barber keeping their same roles.

Carpenter- OLB
Davis- RG
Ellis- rotational OLB
J.J.- trade em
Barber- start him

I would rotate Ellis and Carpenter, Davis replaces Rivera no brainer, and tell JJ to use his speed to make some plays, ie stop running into pile ups and rotate Barber in the mix. That tandem rocks...

Guy has to get stronger to play ILB. Not sure why people dont see that.

He couldn't shed a block last year to save his life. The ONLY way he plays inside is on passing situations or via injury. Leave him at oustide until he gets stronger. Then you CAN consider him a viable option as ILB.

i pretty much agree with what you guys said..

carpenter starts at OLB
l.davis starts at RG
Ellis is a situational passrusher.. playing DE and OLB
JJ is the starter..
MBIII is in on short yardage, goal line and end of games..

I'm excited to see JJ play without having BP breathing down his neck.

I would tell Carpenter, Ellis, J.J. and MBIII to make sure they don't mention the word 'food' around L.Davis.

I like Carpenter outside better myself, but he'd probably be shedding more blockers playing OLB than the weak inside position.

I would like to see Carp on the inside, and Ellis as a part time pass rush specialist playing 20-25 snaps a game. Davis as starting RG. JJ starting RB backed up another year by MB3 then see what i can get for MB3 in a trade. I am a JJ guy, which scares me cause that means they will trade him on draft day and piss me off.

of course that would leave Dallas with no starting OLB on the otherside of Ware, but i think the world of Spencer (purdue) so maybe i'd draft him and make him an OLB.

damn Lab, i see we are pretty close on this one. I didnt read all the responses, until after i posted, and you and i are on the same page with all of the above.

some 1 no 1 is talking about is kevin burnett.. im expecting a lot from him, the guy had a 1st round grade on him coming out and was a very early 2nd round pick. Last year was basically his rookie year so this year is the year he is going to show something i think..

I like Burnett, i hope he gets a chance to do well...call me crazy, but i once thought Kalen Thorton was going to be our best pass rusher for years to come......sux he got injured.......

His first step was phenomenal. He just looked like he was two steps faster than everyone else.

Let carpenter and ellis battle for the OLB position,Davis to play RG,unless you need to use him at tackle due to an injury or something.I like the way they used jones and barber lat year,so I wouldn't change a thing.
