If It's A Monday Announcement, It Has Nothing To Do With Jerry's "Vacation"...

...the real reason is obvious.

Jerry simply wants maximum exposure and headlines and Monday he won't have to compete with the NCAA tournament or anything else in the sports world for ESPN's coverage or any other media outlet.

It all makes so much sense.

Or maybe they need more time to finalize things

No one ever accused Jerry of being a poor businessman.

He knows what he's doing, and I agree, this is exactly why the signing won't 'happen' til Monday

JJ wants as much media hype as he can possibly get. That's just Mr Jones.

Who can blame him......it sells ticket and keeps the revenue rolling in.;)

Notice I said "IF".

If both sides have truly agreed on a Monday announcement date, it's not because they need more time.

I'm basing my theory on the premise that the deal is agreed upon. I realize that is speculative at this point.

the orginal plan was monday, I think to have all the new players together,, and i fully expect some more signing before monday. I am just wondering, with this thing breaking like it did, if JJ won't do something this weekend.. before it becomes a stale story.. yea yea jj we all know you signed him now.. type thing.

100% correct. If you want people to read about/talk about your stories you NEVER want them in Saturday's or Sunday's paper. You want it to occur during the week on a slower news day. Monday is perfect.

I'm trying to make sense out of what is happening.

The only thing I can think of is this: the Cowboys are going to sign a kicker and maybe another player or two (Fabini? Sowell?) over the weekend. Then there is going to be a big press conference on Monday to announce the signings of TO and the new players.

It's called making a splash. Washington is getting attention; Cowboys aren't. We know that JJ likes to make a big splash. He likes to get all of his signings together for a big press conference.

So, you play this game where you get tons of press over the weekend: the will he/won't he game that keeps people talking about the team (similar to the BP talk at the end of the season). Then on Monday, you have your showcase in a big formal announcement and people talk about it all week.

That's the only thing I can figure out. It doesn't make sense to be playing this game for any other reason than a PR one.

 OK cobra, you can take the credit.

I promise I didn't try and steal your thunder. Great minds think alike.
Unlike some people on the board it is physically impossible for me to stay on this board 24/7 and read every post. ;)

Bingo! I think JJ will make 1-3 more signings this weekend ( I suspect a PK, Hannam and Fabini) and will take advantage of the Slow media day to be the main news item unvieling his splash in FA. With Akin and Kosier he will be able to say that by signing a #1 WR, OLB/ILB, PK, TE, OG and OT, they have addressed all but one of their needs (FS) and will be able to go BPA in the draft and/or move around from #18.

So if T.O. and Rosenhaus and JJ are milking the national writer's speculation to:
A.) Get a bidding war underway for T.O. since there appears to be only lukewarm interest from Denver and K.C.
B. ) Jerry has wanted this to be Danny Snyder bait all along, as Parcell's comment that "I'm to old for this kind of player...." remember the post AB trade comments?

Then of course there going to be a delay.Accompanied by leaks from out of the way papers like the genius' up in Lubbock.

Or ... you can believe that Jerry Jones who never forund a secret he could keep is on vacation &has kept this one from all the Dallas writers, and Mort and PFT and Lubbock got the scoop.
