If Jerry really wants to fix this, he'd have to give up a lot of control

Do you honestly think anything will change with Stephen?
I think we could see some real issues in the DFW if Stephen immediately names himself GM as soon as Jerry gives it up. He can't point to the distant past and say, "at least I hired Jimmy and that worked" like Jerry can. We might get the angry villagers with pitchforks and torches storming Castle Frankenjones if that happens.

There is quite simply no other way. If he can't see that at this point, then we will just have to wait, as some have maintained, until he is gone.
It is the only way.
Until then, we better buckle up and (you) get used do it
I am already convinced that this is a circus

Dude, how you are so unaware of how a business is structured?

I'll make it plain and simple: The GM is responsible for hiring coaches and acquiring players.

Honestly, how do you not know this?
Exactly. we've rotated players and coaches for nearly 30 years but somehow it's still their fault. The GM is ultimately responsible for the team and we've had the same one for 30 years and haven't gotten out of the 2nd round yet. Telling the players they need to play harder or the coaches they need to coach better is going to accomplish what exactly when the guy hiring them isn't hiring the kind of personnel that would create a disciplined team for deep playoff and superbowl success. We'll switch coaches, players and Jerry and Stephen will create yet another team with a 2nd round ceiling because he refuses to bring in a tough-nosed coach and refuses to get a GM who has fear of losing his job and therefore MUST produce results... the fact that our GM does ZERO during the regular season to improve the personnel is already a huge weakness and you simply cannot compete against better teams who use every opportunity to improve their team.

I am in Kansas City so if you all organize that, please let me know. I will bring my pitchfork and torch with me.

Dude, stop. That is what the GM does. Where do you work, McDonalds? The GM is responsible, that's what his job is. Jerry is responsible for hiring McClay. I mean, you are having trouble w/ the simplest of concepts.
So you don’t think McClay is doing a good job?

Jerry has the #1 revenue generating franchise in all of sports...Jerry doesn't need to fix anything in his eyes, the Cowboys is a very successful business. Jerry wins the Championship every year.

Why isn't McClay GM? He's done an excellent job at acquiring talent, so why not give him full reins? Why limit him to some kind of draft specialist?

Remember what he said about BP? How he hated he gave up so much control to him? Then began to undermine him with the TO thing?
He will NEVER give up that much control again and getting a good enough HC to win with that albatross hanging on his neck is not going to happen
They will pry the GM position from Jerry Jones cold dead hands
No, I don’t remember that at all. Post up the quote! Parcells was over ruled on the Spears vs Ware draft. Parcells was not in charge of personnel as quite frankly he sucked at it.

Jerry needs to copy his freind Stan kroenke who owns the rams and has won 2 super bowls and has his rams back in contention 2 years after their last Super Bowl . Stan owns many more franchises and just hires the best GMs and coaches and lets them do their magic .

Jerry hires the coaches, and intervenes in ways that the players know the coach isn't really in charge. Get in good with Jerry and you can ignore the coach.
Don’t forget he and Stephen sit in on all the coaches meetings! Remember Hard Knocks? How embarrassing

Since you're saying McClay is doing it all, then explain how we have no LB's and a 3 tech who can't hold the point of attack. Explain to me why we overdrafted an unneeded TE in the 2nd, and how we drafted Kelvin Joseph at all. We are reeling in the playoffs because of those horrific decisions. If it's all him, then maybe he's not doing as good a job as you're thinking. Why was McClay OK w/ going into the season w/ a complementary type as your starting RB?

Overall, he's doing OK at best. Getting some good talent in here, he gets an A. Filling holes and forming a complete team, he gets a D.

What is there to fix?

Cowboys are dominating the air waves (presumably).

Cowboys are the most valuable NFL franchise.

Profits!

It’s entertainment. Jerry is providing that and getting ROI.

I’m sure he’d rather win and have the airwaves discussing victory… however, as long as they are discussing the Cowboys, there is nothing to change. Even the fan base continues to discuss the team, despite being upset.

Then you really have not paid much attention over the years.
Point is that BP was the only coach since Jimmy to have the real power; and JJ hated that
If you do not know that then you are not a boys fan
