and the plans are for him to become the HC 2 or 3 years down the road. What happens if another team next year decides they want to make JG the HC of there football team? Since it would be a promotion isn't he free to explore that option.

If the new HC isn't JG - it has to be someone who is in the plans for years to come. Not a stop gap hire.

JJ should look at this hire as the coach who will open in the new stadium in a couple of years at least.

Fans are the only Cowboys loyalties. When JG is offered a $3 million contract he will be gone.

Here's the problem for me...if JC is HC now, then we don't have many options for DC to improve this defense which is CRITICALLY needed now.

Bowles has learned from BP, which is not bad, but I'd love him to learn from Wade for a few years before turning the D over to him.

He's basically guaranteed the job here within 2-3 years, and that's a pretty prestigious position.

I'm not sure being a head coach one year sooner is enough of an incentive for him to take the job in, say, Detroit instead of Dallas.

He's not guaranteed anything. There is no "plan". He is the OC. He will strongly considered for the HC job someday if it opens and he is available. That is all. No need to presume that the future of the Cowboys has to be planned out 30 years in advance. That is for silly fans with no concept of reality or understanding of the fluid nature of the NFL.

Ok so if Wade takes this job with that understanding doesn't that make him a lame duck?

We fire the current HC, whoever it is, and hire "Red Ball". No big deal. :D

(Obvious sarcasm, but your question points out the unusual nature of this search and JJ's infatuation with Garrett.)
