My brother-in-law has a mechanical engineering degree. He is extremely smart, but has the common sense of an empty box. We're always making fun of him cuz he can lay down the knowledge when it comes to book smarts, but then he'll go and do something completely dumb like leave his windows rolled down when it's raining. lol He's not as bad as he used to be though.

So ergonomics, industrial hygene, time studies, motion studies, and safety are some of their area of interest. ME(s) are probably the most diverse of the engineering disciplines. We can do anything from part/system design, aerospace, and structural analysis.
