do we take him or do we trade down to the teens, with tyrone smith still on the board.

I am one who thinks our defense needs someone that can intimidate someone. Our defense basically doesnt have anyone that is ruthless like fairley (other than probably ratliff). Also ratliff could be a great mentor to fairley if he listens. Imagine Fairley, ratliff and ware, QB's will be pooping on theirself during the game.
He is James harrison as a lineman.
and In the big game(bowl game) he performed this season.

the only concern i have is the 1 year wonder, but you can say that about of alot of prospects in this draft such as bowers, quinn, marvin austin, etc.

My instincts say take him, but people I suspect know more than me say he isn't ideally suited to a 3-4. I just believe in getting big, talented bodies and forging your system around them. I don't know what Ryan tends to do.

Edit: I still wouldn't take him over Quinn, Dareus or Peterson, probably not over Smith either.

i know but he is the higher rated than quinn and DE (his position hopefully if we stay 1 gap) is a bigger need on our team than OLB.

but if peterson or dareus is there than the no brainer would be to take peterson or dareus in that order.

I wish dareus would fall to us but all of a sudden he jumped Fairley so that might be wishful thinking...lol

I will throw a fit if we are stupid enought to not take him.

One year wonder's are always a bigger risk. And remember that he would have to tone down his dirty play at Dallas. Now if he went to the squeelers, he would be fine.

Quinn is just a pet cat of mine. I'd take him over Fairley. Personal choice.

I would take him over Quinn, Smith and perhaps Dareus too. This of course is just looking at him as a pure football prospect, not factoring if he's a lazy slime-bucket that will be out of football in three years.

no thanks, he doesn't fit the 3-4. Where is he going to play. He isn't a 3-4 DE. HE is a oe gap 4-3 DE. If he is there at 8 the titans will take him, he fits there scheme so well. Titans new DL coach was Auburn's DL coach last year so you know who he wants.

Fairley would probably play half his snaps at DE and half at DT in the nickel. Adding an explosive inside pass rusher will help Ware a great deal.

I would be happy with the pick if he is on the board at #9.

This. 1 year or not, he completely dominated on the biggest stage possible in college. I think he would make a very good DE in the 3-4 because of his great size and strength to stop the run, and he would give us a good pass rush off the edge of the line that we've never really had besides from OLB's.

Yeah Dallas really has a need on the interior of that DLine, it makes alot of sense.:starspin

Mine would too.

He'd be our enforcer on defense and add such a needed vicious edge to this defense.

Get a monster in the middle and move Rat outside with Fairley on the other end and just ridiculous with our OLB's.

That secondary with Huff added to it would look and be so much better with the added pressure Fairley would create.

With a top tier choice you usually take the best athlete on your board, which is usually Jerrys m.o., outside of QB, WR and RB this year shouldn't be any different.

If Quinn, Miller, Peterson, Dareus or Fairley (maybe Prince) fall to #9 IMhumbleO that player is the "wouldbe" pick. Otherwise you take the most athletic OT.

My short list in the top 10 is:

Dareus
Fairley
Peterson

After that:

Von Miller (his talent is undeniable, but Spencer is here and serviceable enough)
Quinn (A notch down from Miller polish wise right now, but athletically may be above plus the Spencer thing I mentioned above)
