committee - at least to a certain extent, couldn't we do this if necessary next year? Philly has gotten away with this as well, probably because they have a very good OL.

First of all, this isn't a TO thread.

But, why not, for example, Glenn, Hurd, Crayton, Miles, and let's say a high draft pick in 2007, plus an experienced veteran WR in FA (not necessarily top tier, but just below).

We could use the cost savings to upgrade Rivera, the FS position, and we could try to add one more pass rusher to the team.

Then, in the draft, we take 1 WR somewhere Day 1, and then we simply take the best player on the draft board.

Is this a viable option?

it could be if they actually spend some money to fix this horrid OL, because without owens and the same OL this is 2005 all over again

If Flo is healthy, and we re-sign Gurode and Colombo, we should be fine if we can upgrade Rivera. Kosier isn't a world beater, but he's o.k., and he usually can get out on screens, etc.

And this offense isn't called with nearly the imagination that NO uses. Maybe that changes in the offseason, but only if the coaching philosophy changes.

It's all in OL and ours is overrated by MANY on this board. We are very average.

Funny you mention this. My friend mentioned it last night. That Dallas has a stuck to a strict WR order and has seen some trouble. Teams like the Saints have fluid in moving WRs around, getting backups time (either due to injury or by design), etc. As much as we hear about Miles Austin and Sam Hurd and Jamaica Rector...they've done little on offense. They're having to fight for basically 1 or 2 spots at 3rd and 4th WRs, though 3rd goes to Crayton.

There are some guys that just show up on Sundays. Why not toss them in there more, give them the opportunities. Look what happened w/ Romo once he had a chance to prove himself. Barber has made the most of his touches. Miles Austin has stepped up on ST... you never know. But I think Bill's too old and set in his ways to take those kinds of risks...

This is what I think.

If for whatever reason TO isn't back, I don't think we necessarily have to go out there and try to get a number 1 WR. I think we can get a solid veteran WR in FA, get one more in the draft, and we should just build our OL.

I like the 1-2 punch with our RBs, plus we can add one more in the Draft, our TEs are good, and Romo is good and should improve as he get more experience.

What we need to do is upgrade Rivera. Colombo should improve as well next year. This is his first full year starting. We can also draft one more OL to groom behind Flo, or maybe McQuistan will develop this offseason.
