If one of the guards goes down, are we looking at Gurode...

....as a guard and Al Johnson back to center?

From all the training camp reports, it looks like Peterman is gonna end up a bust and no one is making strides as the backup.

Losing a tackle won't be pretty but we at least have Petitti, Colombo and Fabini doing the right/left tackle shuffle.

Seems if Dallas loses the interior line, the best bet would be to move Gurode back to a guard and let Al Johnson be the center for now.

It is hard to say, Dallas could move McQuistan to guard where he has some experiance at that position from college where he has played both tackle and gaurd.

I've seen Bill move vets around on the line a little but not rookies -- if a guard went down, Gurode would likely be the best option -- of course, i'm not convinced that Gurode is going to start at center since Al is admittedly better against 4-3s and our schedule is pretty much all 4-3.

my idea all along was to have both gurode and johnson start. to me you got to play your 5 best men. rivera is not in the top 5 anymore. my biggest concern is not the guard position but the left tackle position. flo is not 100% and no one really know if he'll ever be. that position was our achiles heel last season and is continues to be so. expect a lot of 2 TE sets with both guys staying behind to block.

actually, several reports I've read indicated that Rivera is the one guy that Bill is comfortable with on the line. so if those reports are correct it seems that Bill thinks Rivera is the best O-line guy we have at the moment.

You may be right. 1 thing for sure Al Johnson needs to step it up because he was getting pushed into the QB's lap way to often last year. As for Gurode we will see but at least according to reports he is playing much better than he has shown in the past.

I hope we are rotating centers this season, I think this causes too many center/QB exchange problems and god knows we had way too many last year.

Gurode to guard... no doubt in my mind.

I think Cory Procter sticks and will provide some depth just in case.

interesting. going from worst to best with one click of the mouse. we'll have to wait and see. IMO gurode is our best player. flo would be if he was healthy. me also thinks that petitti will have his permanent residence at LT where he's natural and there's no depth. rivera is damaged goods and will have a tough time this year as he did last year. bad backs tend to have that effect on people. see charles haley for reference.

That's the opposite of what the coach said but apparently you know better.

From most accounts by people who have actually been at the practices Rivera is doing good. BP says the same. But of course you know better.
