Yes, lads, gentry and frustrated fans, we saw Micah Parsons go down with a high-ankle sprain, and from what I perceive from me group home brain trust, Micah, at a minimum, is out 2 more games.

Before I go further, let me express me gratitude to Micah for not being greedy and put his armored car heist a season away to 2025. And to Yoda, who wisely kicked that fan down the road.
This is how to give Micah an equitable payout while considering these facts and perceptions.

1. Micah, the consensus belief is you've plateaued as a DE. Teams have figured you out.
2. Micah, who in 2023 scratched and clawed his way to 14 sacks, can't possibly reach anywhere near that with his average start to this season and then his injury.
3. Yoda should explain that, going forward, the Boys are taking a chance on Parsons because of his recovery and his perceived plateauing. He and Myles Garrett tied at 14 sacks in 2023. Right now Garrett has 4 sacks. Parsons has 1 and is rehabbing.

Lads, Parsons has longed for oil money such as Garrett's $25 million average salary.
Parsons, if Yoda is cautious, should be offered quail money at $18 mil a year. He's good but not astronomically so.

Would you agree, bland men? $18 mil?

If you were GM, what would you offer?

You don’t want to use Garrett’s contract as a baseline because adjusted for inflation that gets you to 40m AAV.

The fact that you think offering a consensus top 5 defensive player far less than their contemporaries tells me you just want him to walk and sign elsewhere.

After watching watts, and seeing how much he impacts the game, not only as a rusher but as a run stopper as well, Parson isn't in the same league, good player but not a constant impact player and definitely not worth being paid like the best defensive player in the NFL, we've already made that mistake with Dak.

But our GM will want to have the "best" (i.e. highest paid) offensive and defensive players in the NFL. Great for marketing and his ego. So expect Parsons to be over paid.

I would start with an apology and something along the lines of. 'Micah we owe you an apology. We have created a Defense that is not best suited to your skills. You are not a DE in a 4-3. We are moving to a 3-4 which will help your skillset and hopefully reduce the chances of injury. Having an elite talent like you means we have to think of you first when it comes to scheme.'

If I were Yoda I'd pay him $20 mil year. But Dak and now CeeDee were paid, so guess who gets seconds?

Micah is going to get somewhere in the area of $30 million and he deserves it. He may even get more than that. Nick Bosa is getting $34 million. Micah will get at least that much.

The problem for Micah is the Cowboys defensive line does not help him at all. There is no pass rush threat on the defense except Micah. Maybe Lawson can be that guy when Micah gets back, but Micah gets so many double teams because the rest of the Cowboys Dl is stoned with single blockers. Get someone inside that line who can push the pocket and Micah will see fewer double teams and he will get more sacks.

The only criticism I have of Micah is he is not a violent player. He is a soft tackler and for a LB that is a bad trait.

If our GM is smart he will trade Micah at trade deadline but our GM os an incompetent moron so this is a meaningless expectation

If Jerry offers Micah $18M a year the NFL would have to step in and take the team away from him. Trade him if you dont think hes worth the money he will end up getting but even in the event of a down year this season Micah will get at least double that on his next deal.
