We are out. Someone correct me if I'm wrong.

That means it would be a 4 way tie at 10-6...Commanders would win teh Division but we would lose the tie breaker with GIants since we're in the same division we're automatacally out.

So that would leave the Giants & PAnthers holding the WC spots.

I believe, the "same-division" rule is applied seperately for each seeding position. IOW, if the Giants win the 5th seed in a 3 way tie-breaker, then the Cowboys would still be alive for the 6th seed. Against the Panthers, the Cowboys would be the 5th seed based on the W on X-mas eve. If the Panthers beat the Giants for #5, then we'd be out.

Actually, if the Giants lose, the Panthers lose the Commanders win and the Cowboys win the NFC East may send three teams to the playoffs. Minnesota would be the one team you would have to worry about if you end up tied with them.

They would have the same conference record and it would come down to the common opponents to determine the wildcard tie breaker.

This same scenario would apply if the Commanders won, the Giants won, the Cowboys won and the Panthers lost.

Are you guys sure?

Think about it we would have the Panthers at 10-6 Giants at 10-6 Commanders 10-6 and Cowboys at 10-6.

The Commanders will beat the Giants for the Division.

So that leaves 3 teams Giants Cowboys and PAnthers.

The Giants beat us and the PAnthers in a tie breaker

We would only beat the Panthers in a tie breaker...But I thought if these was a 3 way tie and two of the teams fighting were in the same division one would automatiacallu be dicualified.

THis is what I need to know....SO do we go over the Panthers?

I'm I think we would but then again I'm not sure about that little division rule...I need confirmation please.

No, we would be in, Carolina would be out.

There are a lot of people confused about the fact that if a three or more teams tie for both wild card spots, after the 1st wild card is determined, the whole process starts over when selecting the 2nd wild card team. Meaning that before the 2nd Wild Card is determined, all teams eliminated due to tiebreakers are thrown back in and the tie break process starts over (of course, the team getting the 1st Wild Card isn't included in the 2nd round).

So Giants would be awarded 1 1st wild card.

Carolina and Dallas would be tied for 2nd wild card and the whole tie breaker process starts over. Giants aren't included here because they got the 1st Wild Card. Dallas wins head to head.

But before the 2nd Wild Card is determined, Dallas is thrown back in

As goshan said, the Cowboys would be eliminated via tie breaker rules ONLY from determining the first wildcard spot. Once that one is determined (under the scenarios I mentioned either the Giants or Commanders) everything would start over from scratch to determine who will get the second wildcard spot.

I should probably mention that this scenario also assumes that the Buccaneers wrap up their division by either winning agains the Saints or beating the Panthers via the various division tie-breakers.

If the Panthers win the division and my scenario unfolds the Cowboys are almost certainly out.

The situation is this Dallas gets in with either a Bears win today or next week and a
loss by either the Panthers or Commanders next week
