If Rivera gets an interview will this be the minority interview?

Some of you people are idiots... who says just because we hire Rivera that we have to switch to his scheme? He won't be the defensive coordinator. We can always hire a 3-4 guy or 4-3 guy. I'm interested in Rivera as a motivator of men in general. The players in Chicago love the guy and perform well for him. The results DO NOT lie. As a HC he might have a positive effect on the whole team. We can always find someone to coach the defense and I'm sure Rivera is not afraid of any scheme we use.... he even said so in an interview today with LBOH....wake up people. Give me the Rivera's, Payton's, Lewis', Tomlin's of the world over retreads like Norv Turner any day!!! Anyone calling him a terrible hire are probably just parcells lovers/homers....period.

Who said he would be a terrible hire, genius? Read everything instead of singling out two words and focusing on that.

Head coaches want to bring what's familiar to themselves. It would be lunacy to think Rivera wouldn't want HIS system in place on D.

This is what I was trying to say, not calling folks idiots but about the personnel fitting the scheme. Let the coach do what he wants, I'm not terrible enthraled with some of our D personnel anyway.

I also want him as a motivator a guy who players will run thru a wall for, that's mainly what I invision as well as a long term coach.

actually thinking about it, Kevin Burnett screams Brian Urlacher, I think he could pull it off, both have safety backgrounds, are both fast as hell, can turn and run in coverage, both need blockers in order to be successful

moot point, since we're not going to the 4-3

I have zero problem hiring Rivera, would be very happy with him over the retreads route or the *insert big name college coach here * route.

Just pointing out it would be possible he would want to install his own 4-3, and our personnel doesn't fit as well as some think with it IMO.

I would want him to have his system in place in Big D but it won't happen overnight, he may have to draft the kind of MLB you speak of. I don't expect this team to win the SB next year but maybe in 2 or 3 years. I say let Rivera come in here and establish what he wants to do even if it erases some of Parcells work, wasnt like it was great anyway.

You are too used to Parcells. Other coaches aren't as stubborn as him...:banghead:

I think Rivera is a good enough coach to modify his system for the players at hand and draft players to fit closer to his system. If he wasn't that good, why bring him in?

I don't care what coach we bring in, if they can't adjust to the players at hand or the teams we play against, then I don't want them. Good coaches don't need to force square pegs into a round hole, they just take a saw and cut corners into the hole so all of the pegs fit.

Did I miss some awesome play of ILB Bradie James last year or something? You kidding me? We're worried about bringing in a 4-3 guru who needs a Super MLB because our ILB play of James is so phenomenal. We don't have a great guy to play MLB for his 4-3 so he doesn't fit? Well we don't have great ILB play from James for our 3-4 so I guess we're screwed either way.

I think we could bring in Rivera and be very successful. He could promote Bowles to DC then we have both a 3-4 guy and a 4-3 guy and could interchange the defense. As far as MLB are concerned.. I think that BC or KB could handle the position, with the right coaching. Both seem to be very athletic and fast. But either way, I like Rivera has our next coach.. and not getting him simply because of the 3-4 would be JJ's dumbest move yet as owner.

To run that defense effectively, you NEED a great MLB with great atleticism and range, good defensive tackles, and the abiltiy to create pressure with only your front four. I have zero confidence that we could manage that.

Otherwise, you'll end up getting run all over.

I think Burnett could be an outstanding 4-3 MLB.
As long as our DT's keep him covered from blocks.
So can James!
