If you have 3 guys that obviously fit each position, thats fine but in a case like durant and mcclain, the better guy plays the middle and the other slides to weakside probably.

And there's nothing to be concerned with about that.

He's the GM. There's nothing wrong with being interested in his playing. I don't know yet whether Ro should be a starter or where. I haven't seen enough and I suspect no one else has either. I think the next game will say more as they will likely treat that as more of a rehearsal.

I want the best three on the field. I also want the best LB at Mike LB. McClain has a little ways to go before he is that.

McClain doesn't have that position flex, so you might not be able to get both of those wants.

I don't like Ro at Will. That position has more coverage responsibilities. I see him as a Mike or Sam. I wouldn't know how that affects Wilbur. Carter will probably start at the Will anyway.

Nobody ever questioned McClain's talent. Its his desire and love for the game that are the issues.

I don't know about you but I'll take a player who lacks a little skill but lives and breathes football over the reverse.

We have that guy that sleeps, eats, and craps football. And he has all the talent in the world.

Unfortunately he can't stay healthy.

Even as the fake GM of this team, he has no business telling the head coach who starts and where.

Your problem is you've dealt with Jerry's nonsense for so long that you forgot how a sane football team is run.

The GM acquires the talent. The head coach utilizes it.

Jones has already come out and designated those players who have caught his limited eye for talent.

Randle is one, McClain is another. He has also gone out and publicly endorsed Coleman, Bishop, Bush and Street. When that happens, you might as well put them on the final roster.

But he never ever meddles. And Jason Garrett has the final say.

Your arrogance astounds me at times like in this post. Do you think you're the only person here who actually understands how a team is run? Where is your evidence that shows beyond a doubt that Jerry tells any coach who to play and when? Don't give me Jerry's meanderings because he contradicts himself all the time; or the media yada. Tell me when you heard Jerry tell Jason to put so and so in there....period....with your own ears.

If you want to tell me Jerry gets the hots for some players and talks them up and even bends the coaches ears then I'm right behind you. If you want to tell me Jerry vetoes everyone else at times and does his own thing acquiring talent then I'm wit you.

Just don't make your snarky remarks to me about your opinions as being ex cathetra fact.

I was responding to someone else talking about Jerry wanting them here so they'll be here. I'm not sure why I have to come up with evidence why what that person said is true.

You then responded trying to excuse that, if it's true, with the fact that he's the GM. Something completely irrelevant if you in fact know how a football team should run.

Now you're asking me if I think I'm the only person here who understands how a team operates.

No. But I'm the only one involved in this discussion, apparently, because a GM should never tell a head coach anything about a player's playing time.

There's no snark here. Just facts. I'm capable of discussing the game without getting emotional.

To me, it is pretty clear that Jerry Jones the GM/Owner exercises some method of input on the roster. It has happened on more occasions than I can count.

Even if he is hands off, which is a joke to even think, what he says is clearly a mirror for how things turn out. So taking what he says is usually the smart money.

I'm not being emotional just giving you my opinion. If you want to tell everyone Jerry tells Jason who to start then that's your business. If you respond to me with it expect to be called on it because while I admit I wonder how far Jerry goes I don't think he tells Jason who to play.

And these are your own words: "Your problem is you've dealt with Jerry's nonsense for so long that you forgot how a sane football team is run." I find that comment arrogant to say of many of the members here.

I think Jerry has tremendous say about who is on the roster. That's what GMs do. If you want to argue he shouldn't be the GM I think the vast vast majority of the rest of the world would agree with you including me.

Regardless if Hitchens develops, it's becoming evident that we'll be targeting a LB high in the draft next year and possible one in FA. There is just way too much uncertainty in that group right now with Holloman/Lee's injury issues, McClain's mental state, and Carter's disappointment. They are not going to pay Carter. I think he's been quietly in the doghouse for a few years now.

We have the worst set of linebackers in the league. I'm still not liking the Hitchens pick.
