If Romo averages 4 TDs/game from here on out...

He will finish with 49 TDs, tying Peyton Manning's record.

Tom Brady has 41 TDs, but the Pats appear to be falling off a bit. Brady has just 3 TDs total in his last 2 games, after averaging 3.8 per game in his first 10 games.

If Brady averages, say, 2 TDs per game from here on out, he would finish with 49 TDs as well.

Now, you might think Romo averaging 4 TDs in his last 4 games is impossible, but hear me out...

In his last 4 games, he has 4, 4, 2, and 4 TDs.

The 2 TD game was the Jets game... remember, he busted his pinkie early in the game and it affected his passing. Not to mention that game was a blowout and we didn't pass much in the 2nd half anyways. If Romo didn't hurt his pinkie and the game was a bit more competitive, he probably could've had 4 TDs.

And in the Green Bay game, he actually should have had 5 TDs, but T.O. bobbled one of them into an INT.

The 2 biggest issues that would make this very tough to achieve...

1) Brady will probably get it together and finish with 50+.

2) If we have home-field advantage wrapped up by week 17, Romo might only play a quarter or so, or might sit out altogether.

Thoughts? Is this even remotely possible, or am I just a crazy dreamer?

You're reaching a bit don't you think? Brady will crush Manning's record and I doubt Romo will finish with 49 TDs...

I just can't see him throwing 16 TD passes next 4 games, but I won't put anything past him. Wishful thinking, but not impossible.

I don't think it would be such a stretch, especially considering Witten only has 1 TD in those last 4 games.

But if he gets himself into position to do it, we're probably 14-1, and like you said, he sits out that last game.

Maybe he's got a shot if the defense stinks it up.

will romo and the starters play much in the last game if it's a "worthless" game?

Even though he won't get Manning's TD record or catch Tom Brady, he has a chance to place in the top 5 all-time. Marino threw 48 TD's in 1984 and threw 44 TD's in 1986. I'd say Romo has a shot to throw 45 TD's, which would really be quite incredible.

Incidentally, the NFL record for most 4 or more touchdown Passes in a single season is held by Dan Marino in 1984 and Peyton Manning in 2004 with 6. Romo has 4 right now, so if he did what you suggested, he'd break that one too.

The answer is simple, run up the score on the lions.

Break the Record before the patriots.

Then Shut everyone up.

In other words...we are still trying to come up with ways that Romo could possibly steal the MVP trophy from Brady in the last 4 games.

I dont think it will happen, really it would have to be about 6 in the next three games to get the record, IMO.
