If Scouts Are Urging Consistency, Does That Mean We Stay Pat?

Hey guys, check out the FWST article in Daily Zone about the scouts recommending the "safe play" and not going for the homerun.

I think this may give us a clue on McFadden. Jerry has stated many times that he likes "scout-driven" drafts. If this is true, it sounds like the scouts are telling Jerry that moving up for McFadden is ****** dumb (maybe not quite in those words, but you get the point).

Maybe the scouts are like a lot of us and see the depth in this draft and know at #22 and #28 that we can get some really good players this year.

Of course if Jerry has it bad for McFadden, what the scouts say probably wont matter very much.

I just read that article and though it was interesting that the scouts are lobbying for "singles" and "doubles" instead of "home runs".

Dallas doesn't really need to go for the "homerun" because they were a 13-3 team with the 4th youngest roster in the NFL. QB Rating Differential (QB Rating of the Offense - QB Rating Allowed by the Defense) has the strongest correlation to winning in the NFL. Dallas had the 4th highest QBRD, so it wasn't like the 13-3 record was a fluke as their QBRD projected them to 12 win this season.

Thus, it's STUPID to make major overhauls of a team that 13-3 and played like a 13-3 team AND has a young team that likely won't see regression in play the next season unless there's injuries.

That being said, Dallas has possible needs after the 2008 season. So if they were to make the big move, they risk the possiblity of not developing players at need positions even more in 2009.

And for all of the talk about Jones' "mancrush" on former Arkansas players, Jerry has yet to ever even draft an Arkansas player, in any round.

maybe cause he hasn't found the right one until now:eek:

I found it hilarious that everyone wants to say he'll move up and get this player or that cause they're from arkansas when he's never done it before.

Now, granted, there has never been a DMac coming out of Arkansas before but you'd think if he had such a crush on Arkansas players he'd have moved up and got one, or drafted some at all, before.

I just hope the "singles and doubles" phrase isn't an analogy for lets draft another Sherman Williams! I remember those drafts where Jerry thought his team was stacked and didn't need to draft starting caliber players.
