If Steele's Bad Play Continues, Will Peters' Step in at RT?

I'm just curious. If the line continues to fall apart, and Steele's penalties continue, maybe, for continuity, we just leave Farniok at LG and let Peters play RT.

This could even extend Peters career, and he would also be a potential swing tackle in the case that Tyler got hurt and he didn't..

The guy is a proven talent, even at his age.If TS struggles continue,I’m all for it.

That's up to Jerry, but I think the answer is yes. Then the question will be if Peters falters do they put Steele back in?

At RT, I don't think Peters falters. I think he thrives.

Newton was talking about how Farniok was really the only player on the line playing well. So, I think he's onto something with him. The guy is physical. Buff as heck for a fat guy.

At guard, he's a 9.9 RAS, and many people don't realize that.

So, I can see Peters coming in at RT, keeping Tyler at LT, and Farniok at LG.

You could even swap Smith around the guards and the tackle positions.

IF they do this right, and Martin would show some flexibility, there's almost endless combinations you could actually pull off with a squad like that.

Tyler Smith, Farniok, Biadiasz, Martin, Peters.

That is actually starting to shape up, to me at least.

Take out Steele, the weak link. We all know Collins was actually better than Steele. But I think Peters would be better than Collins, just because he's such a beast.

This team needs to run the ball and he will serve us better at guard doing that next to Tyler. Mcgovern and Farniok are clearly the weaker links.

Collins was not better than Steele actually. Not last year at least. Farniok and Mcgovern are the weaker links. I know Steele had 4 stupid penalties, but I'm not sure if he blocked poorly.

I can see Peters coming in either way.

I'm just not sure.

I think it depends on how Steele plays. I thought Farniok fared well out there. He didn't have much time with the first team, and you couldn't really tell. He wasn't the problem in the game, overall.

The weakest link in game 1 was Steele, by far.

If Farniok steps up his technique some, that guy could be really good. You should give him a chance, because there's a lot of upside with that player.

I hope it doesn't come to that but Steele has to be better than he was last week. I'd rather see Peters step in at left guard.

I wouldn't mind seeing him at LT, and Tyler going back to Guard. Then again, I thought Farniok really was holding his own out there. So, he caught my attention, and I'm just considering possibilities. Because we're kind of in a situation now where anything can happen.

Farniok was the one that got Dak injured. Farniok whiffed on several blocks. I didnt notice the play of Steele other than his 4 false start penalties.

Tyler Smith played left tackle in college for 3 years so I'm not sure why people keep wanting to move him to guard, now that Tyron is out. Let him play where he's comfortable unless he struggles. Peters has played RT, LT, and some guard. He's a pro, he can step in anywhere (except center).

I didn't think Farniok did well in pass protection. I'd rather have the old pro next to Smith.

Well, because Tyler Smith grades out so well at guard, since he's a tackle. And it would really help the way we run, because we run between the tackles, and he has more impact in the run game at guard. At tackle, his RAS, or athletic score is like 9.6.. whereas it's 8 something as an LT, I think. With him, you can actually see it. He'd be a better guard. Even though he's a good tackle, if you have another tackle good enough. Because he'll dominate at LG, off the bat. He's shorter than most tackles, much makes up for it with strength and power.

That's my logic anyway.

Is Peters even in shape enough to play? If they put him in now, he’ll end up getting hurt. Not what this team needs now. I’m thinking Peters could contribute in 2-3 more weeks. Maybe…

This is why I was asking when is he ready. He was supposed to be in shape and wanting to play this season. We call up and have to put him on the PS. Who the F do we have on the 53 that we need to stash him. We have cut Ridgeway and Tolbert inactive. Who is on the roster taking these spots.. Peters needs to be padded up and ready. If Steele can’t get his poop in a group he needs to be replaced. I am actually pissed because we let go of Collins because supposedly Steele stepped up. Could play RT. We need one side or another to be strong to run off of. Tyler is doing great but McGovern gone due to injury so now a backup. Didn’t Steele play LG last year and play well and is why he was still here but could play RT also. Put Peters at whatever Steele is worse at.

If so then a bad signing or a late signing by a FO that knew he wanted to play. He played well last year for most of the season. But he needs a heads up. FO knew we were short on talent on O-Line.

Isn't that why they cut Ridgeway?

To make room for Peters? Or he's to bring up Grier to backup Rush?
