If T.O. were a Bengal...

I wonder if the "T.O. media watch" would still be in this high gear. You know, if Owens burbs at lunch or scratches his ***, the vermin crawl out of their holes looking for the story. But I don't recall Owens ever committing a crime. So I wonder if the criminality of the Bengal players would would be enough to swallow up the T.O. watch. I doubt it.
Or maybe it's just a Cowboy thing. I remember like it was yesterday the constant front page play about every Cowboy slip-up in the 90's. I don't recall eight different players, several offences for some, on the Cowboys teams back then. I know they got alot of play over Irvin back then. They went bonkers ofter Tuinei's death, and the lineman who got caught with the pot AFTER he was gone from Dallas, but not much else. But yet it was in your face 24/7.
What I DON'T recall was any press at all about the owner/mafioso/gangster DeBartolo getting convicted and losing his team for criminal activity. Or any press at all about Dennis Green being accused several times for sexual harrassment. Not much play over Farve's alchohol & drug problems either.
I guess T.O. falling asleep at a meeting is bigger news.

TO was headlined before any of these Bengal incidents.

Its a joke.

What is even more frightening is that people around here are falling into it all and now want TO off the team next season.

Dont be blinded by the over exaggerated media people.

TO helps this team a lot.

Period.

other than chris henry I would take TJ or chad over TO in a heartbeat.

TJ is still pretty young and has worked his way into the league from junior college, He is married and has a couple little girls and plays hungry. He takes a second fiddle to CJ but I think he could be something very special on another team. More special than he is now.

The Dallas Cowboys are a phenomenon...that's why they are America's Team...nobody really cares about other teams except their fans...however, in the back of thier minds, are the Dallas Cowboys...

T.O. is a part of that now, and he needs to ****...! But, if it was not T.O., it will be some other player...it's just that way.

Love em or Hate em...

It would be just as bad because T.O. NEEDS and WANTS controversy and news but pretends he doesn't. T.O. is stupid until he proves otherwise.

I don't think people are falling into anything....

Personally, I've been pleasantly suprised with TOs attitude and behavior. I didn't think things would go so smooth and I never thought there would be like a 5 week spread where he wasn't all the talk but there has been and it him being on the team has worked out better then I expected.

That being said, I don't think he improved the team as much as people thought he would when he signed and as a result I don't wan't him to come back next year.

It would be different if he had the impact that many thought but if he only makes the team marginally better then taking the risk with his attitude just isn't worth it. I don't think he'd behave as well if he stuck around for another year.

Are you talking about his stats?

Cause even those are pretty good (minus the expected drops).

I am looking at the attention TO draws from opposing defenses on the field more closely.

He has opened up every other WR on the field.

Not specifically talking about his stats. Just thought he would be a big part of every game and would have a lot more big plays. Stats don't tell the entire story cause 1/3 of his TDs came against 1 team. And hes only had more then 90 recieving yards in a game 4 times. Over 100....twice.

Theres no doubt he draws some coverage...all recievers do.

I dunno. I might be alone but I don't think hes been what was expected.

I am not a TO fan by any wild stretch of the imagination.

Let's look at what the Bengals in the news have done.

Chris Henry

1. Marijuana charges
2. Pulling a gun in Orlando.
3. Giving alcohol to minors.
4. Speeding and DUI.
5. Suspended 2 games for off field actions. 4 arrests in 13 months.

Odell Thurman

1. 4 game suspension for failed drug test.
2. DUI
3. Suspension increased from 4 games to entire season.

Eric Steinbach

1. DUI while in control of a boat.

Deltha Oneal

1. DUI.

Mathias Askew

1. Tasered for resisting officers.

Frostee Rucker

1. 2 counts of spousal abuse.
2. Vandalism.

A. J. Nicholson

1. Burglary w/ 2 prior alcohol related arrests.

Reggie McNeal

1. Resisting arrest.

Personally I'd rather have the guy flapping his gums and saying stupid things than any of the stuff the 8 Benglas players have been in the news for.

For all his stupid drama queen stuff TO has not been arrested, suspended, or even charged with somethign that was later dropped.

I don't like him, but it's unfair to compare the attention he has drawn with the crap the Bengals players have put their fans through.

Case in point:

When Dionne Sanders played 9 games for the Whiners, he was everybody's All American. The Prince of the NFL. The NFC Defensive player of the year. Everyone's darling. The pride of the NFL.
Next season, he was a selfish, ego driven punk who doesn't tackle. Everything wrong with today's players and needed to be spanked down and tought a lesson.
What changed? The uniform. From Whiner to Cowboy. Simple as that.
