If the ax falls on Brian Stewart, how about Mike Nolan?

He was a good cordinator of Baltimore's 3-4 and might make a good quick fix candidate for this underachieving defense.

how about its wade's defense and wade is already on staff, and stewart can keep his salary for the rest of the season at least.

It doesn't matter who we bring in if the players dont step up and play with some kind of emotion.

Nolan is a fraud.

He used Marvin Lewis' playbook in players in Baltimore. He was an awful D Coord in Washington....they called him Mr. Prevent D.

If you guys want him, go for it. :)

He must of stolen Marvin's playbook, because Marvin sure isn't using it in Cincy!

If you bring in somebody to overhaul the scheme, it's season over. You can't do that on the fly (just like you can't overhaul an engine while racing).

You are right firehawk we are stuck with what we have here. As far as Nolan goes, he all but scrapped the 3-4 in San Fran. and has been running basically a 4-3.

What's it going to be then, eh?

I have to agree here.

They couldn't wait to get rid of him and he wasn't that great with the Giants either.

It should give everyone some pause that his 3-4 has failed miserably in SF and ironically he is being replaced by Singletary, who is a defensive minded coach as well.

He might dress real spiffy and be a really nice person, but I don't see him as a great replacement next year. That would be Capers.

Which he scrapped initially in favor of the 3-4. It's clear he's not the defensive guru that the OP thinks he is. Even if he was a defensive guru, my statement stands, you can't change schemes mid-season unless you've totally given up.

I remember that '99 season-the Skins D was so bad, that Turner ended up bringing Bill Arnsbarger out of retirement at midseason to coach the D. They actually got BETTER when he came aboard.

NO to Nolan

That's because Zimmer is the DC

Lewis' D in Cincy was never very good. At best, they were able to get alot of TOs...but statistically, they always gave up alot of yards.

Didn't he have some sort of hand in the defense in San Fran? You know the one that hasn't bothered to show up this year.

Thanks but I'll pass.

He's available... just got fired.

Just for the record, I don't think we should hire him, I'm just spreading the news.

How about we trade up and get Willis and Lawson instead of Nolan?

I say we should try to get Jimmy Johnson back as HC and move Wade to Defensive Coordinator. Wade is knowledgeable, he just doesn't have the demeanor of a good HC.
