If the Cowboys have a good a good season, is it because?

I'd say it will depend on how healthy our "stars" are and how unhealthy the opponents are when we meet them.
This is critical for all teams, especially late season. Remember Parcell saying you wanna play your best ball T'givings? Every season, the final four playoff teams generally have one thing in common: healthy. They avoided or overcame injuries to key players

Define a good season.

I just want to see meaningful progress and signs that we are moving toward being a competitive playoff team.

The playoffs would be great but with the schedule and the holes we still have, my bar may be a little lower than most. But I am always hopeful.

If we had a good season it's because we have improved the roster with more talent.

And our coaching staff has made proper use of the talent and established an ability to run the ball. And the defense is able to stop the run.

But make no mistake it's not because we have an easy schedule by any stretch of the imagination.

If we do well this year we will be battle tested by the best of the best in the league.

15-2, starting off beating the eagles. They messed letting us play them when the weather will be good, they have no advantage now.

lmao...when was the last time the Cowboys went 15-2?

Get off the crack!

If they have a good season, it is because they improved beyond everyone's expectation. And actually became a good team. And it will be due to numerous reasons.

Past draft picks really step up. And this yeas draft really contributes. Players return healthy, even the few that start the year on PUP.

The coaching staff exceeds expectations.

Rowdy is miraculously missing.
Definitely this!!!! ^^^^^^^^

i dont think anyone here feels we have a favorable schedule...we have the hardest 4 game stretch in NFL history (average of 4 teams at 13-4 from last year), 4 thursday games, we have a near the top SOS and we start the year against the defending superbowl champs.

THe only good thing in our schedule is we don't have any late very cold weather games (NY or Wash are moderate compared to a KC/GB/Philly late year game).

If this team improves its going to be bc
1) They have gotten younger and added talent
2) Their new coaching schemes are effective AND the players pick up on them fast
3) We stay healthy(ish), injuries will happen but we cant lose tons of starters and expect to improve.
Many challenges lie ahead. It’s quite possible…almost likely…that this team is much better than last year but doesn’t win many more games.

The entire division has to deal with the rough schedule, so the division games will likely be the deciding factor.

A favorable schedule (yes things can change, our opponents can beat us at any moment, or we can be ourselves!). Or could it be that this team is better than it was, with the addition of new players, new coaching, new philosophies etc etc??? Please give your thoughts
All the former first round draft picks signed to one year contracts

yes this is true, i also think the NFL put our harder stretch on the backside of the schedule because they know its going to take time for the new schemes to click...i think we are going to start out pretty rough but end up being a non-playoff team that nobody wants to play in Decemeber...which will mean a great look ahead to 2026....but hope i am wrong and we do better than i expect

Theres only 1 reason

JJ

everything starts and stops at JJ.

Provided everyone is healthy and play calling is competent, this season really is all on Dak. He should have enough weapons and a re-fortified OL. Hopefully OT play doesn't screw us. I feel like the defense should be good to excellent, especially if Overshown can come back strong. I think this is Dak's last year to prove himself, if he goes deer in headlights in the big moments again I think the remaining 35% of the fanbase who is pro-Dak will sour on him.

I really don’t think they factor in things like that…it’s probably tough enough just to simply get all the pieces to fit, but they certainly haven’t forgotten where their ratings bread is buttered….the seven win Cowboys are in prime time as often as ever.

If they can’t hold their own vs that stretch, what are we really debating? If a championship is ever a remote possibility, that’s exactly the lineup of quality opponents they would have to face.

At some point they need to be able to beat quality teams as opposed to making the delusional duo think they are better than they actually are by beating up on the little kids.

Regardless, whoever wins the NFCE this year will have definitely earned it.

Jebus Coog. Imagine if Dak is healthy all year. Imagine the Cowboys don't get destroyed by injuries. No question the roster is better than 4 months ago.

It's easy to see how they could have a better record. But that is NOT a favorable schedule.
It's a character building schedule
