Just going off what you have seen so far this season, what position would you push for?

I would say an elite pass rusher, another stand up DE....

Ware needs serious help...

+1........

Interior OL or a stud 5-technique that can rush the passer.

depends a lot on free agency

what happens at the safety position?

what happens to Spencer?

I would take the best player available. There are lots of ways Dallas could go. Dallas may need help at o-line, cb, safety, lb, DE, NT ( still think Ratliff should be a DE)

a rookie where Dallas picking would not be abel to start at SOLB. SOLB and WOLB are to different positions and takes more than just rush the passer. Spencer is far and away better than any rookie you can bring in where Dallas will be drafting.

Right now I would take OG, C, or CB in round one. I don't see any 3-4 SOLBs in this draft that would be a beast his first year. You want to give Ware some help then get a DL that demands double teams. Calasis Campbell and Ratliff on the ends would do wonders for this defense with a true large strong NT.

been saying this for a while

our top 2 needs are

OC
NT

I think it depends on where we pick and who is setting there. In the the first round if one of the blue chip QB's is setting there I would take him. If not, I would look at taking either a de,cb or center. In the second round I think I would look at a guard first and foremost. Third round and beyond I think I would try to get good value and not really target a position. For instance, I would take a look at Broyles with a mid round pick, if available, providing he looks to come off his injury in good fashion. I think the main thing overall is not to reach for a player, just because you need a center does not mean spend a first round pick on a third round talent.

Craig

If Rob Ryan is still here im going C/OG

If Rob Ryan is gone then we desperately need a LOLB who can be consistent.

I agree with you on everything except regarding Ratliff. He's not a true 3-4 DE and would likely be less effective at that spot. As far as the draft goes, maybe we need to ask if the BPA is a 3-4 NT or DE? I would like to think that Jones selects the BPA, which might turn out to be an OL prospect or a CB.

I'll freely admit that, beyond the first few picks, there's not much consensus as to the best value in the first two rounds. Perhaps the last few games will give us a better picture. Claiborne from LSU has looked good in the games I've seen, but is that going to be the best value when our pick comes up?

when is cleveland young NT contract up. I think his last name is rubin. Rob Ryan worked with him last year in cleveland. I hope cleveland lets him walk and we grab him. How has he looked this year? I think he is more of a NT than DT. The 4-3 might be suiting him wrong in cleveland.:D

If we can get him in FA. Then we move ratliff out to end with hatcher/lissemore (who has looked good when he has entered the game), or etc.

Then I might go with the highest rated player at.

Center
OG
OLB (spencer might walk, I wonder if butler can develop to take his spot, that will be big for us). Spencer has been too inconsistant.
Safety (sensy and elam has been steady but i would love a playmaker back there, someone that can run, bring the wood and can atleast average in coverage (if he can hit because i tired of WR not being scared to cross the middle of our defense). If he doesn't hit hard than he has to be really good in coverage.
CB (only because we resigned scandrick, when is jenkins contract up?)
CB (rated low because we did just give spencer a big contract). when is jenkins contract up?

Imagine the passrush with ratliff and hatcher as 3-4 DE's with ware and another OLB with a motor rushing the passer. Then you have rubin collapsing the pocket:eek:

rubin 6'2 330 is plenty of beef which in turn will make our ILB's look even better.

With so much cap space available to us next year it makes answering your question very difficult. That said I'll say CB.

Center or Offensive Gurad.

Even with DeMarco Murray looking like the RB we hoped Felix would be, I still think a better center would help out in goaline situations.

Best player available, as long as that player isn't RB, WR or TE. I'd happily take the best player out there at any other position.

I competely disagree with you on Ratliff. I think he is a true 3-4 DE. He can hold his block but also has speed to get around the edge and get by OL to get into the backfield. AT 285 punds he is much to small to play NT down after down. Ratliff is the best one on one and at NT he is getting doubled and when he is doubled he can be moved.

Right now the following are going to be FAs.
Antonio Garay San Diego

Sione Pauha(plays NT for NYJ so would be the best to plug and play and understand the system)

Paul Soliai Miami(the youngest of the bunch)

I woudl rather find a 3rd or 4th round NT. Kawann Short or Sylvester Williams

Honestly, if we move Ratliff from NT, I want it to be a vet, or a 1rst rounder. Considering there isn't a NT worth taking in the 1rst at this point, give me Solari

I agree but with his age of 32 I would still draft a NT if Short or williams is there in the late 3rd or 4th rounds.

I would love a DL of Campbell, Soliai, Ratliff, with Spears, Hatcher, Brent and Short or Williams rotating in.

Who's 32? Ratliff will turn 31, right before next season starts. Solari is like 28 or so, so I'm not sure who you meant.

I wouldn't mind drafting a NT in round 3 or 4, but I wouldn't move Ratliff from the position if that's the best I could do.

As far as the d-line goes, due to Calias Campbell's likely high cost, I'd take

LDE: Spears, Coleman
NT: Ratliff, Brent, Lissimore
RDE: Hatcher, Crick (2nd round)
