Not ashamed to call myself a Romo fan but he has to do a better job of hanging on to the ball when the pass rush is bearing down on him. I don't have as big of an issue with his int to TD ratio but he has to be more aware of defenders slapping at the ball as he is scrambling around. This will play a part in our success or failure

I agree Romo has some TO issues that are his to improve on.

I think he will, in part, because I think some of his carelessness was a result of trying to do too much. Frankly, sometimes, he had to. I think it all snowballed in that last Philly game. And I think it all started with ineffective line play.

I have a lot of confidence that Romo will do his part. I think he is fully capable of QB'ing a couple SB wins for this club. My questions are elsewhere, as I listed above (OL, WR, Coaching & Secondary)

I am really hoping that a healthy Kosier will solidify not only LG but also help our entire unit. I think that O-line at times played worse than the sum of its parts. This year, I hope the opposite can happen.

Offense:

1a. OL fails as a solid unit, either due to age, injury or both.
1b. OL backups worst than average when filling in for injuries.
2. Garrett struggles with play calling.
3. The real RW is the one we saw last year, not the one in Detroit.
4. WRs unable to fill void left by TO.
5. Injuries to RBs.
6. Romo continues late season struggles.

Defense:

1. Injuries.
2. Safety concerns continue.
3. Spencer unable to step up, leaving teams to concentrate on Ware and Ratliff.
4. Injuries.

Special teams.

1. See 2008. Same ol' same ol'.

Offseason.

1. New coaching staff. Wade definitely gone.
2. Garrett remains if problems are due to injuries and not ineffectiveness on his part.
3. Rebuilding of OL, secondary, LBs, WRs.

If we do go 8-8 it will have much to do with the Giants and Eagles keeping one step ahead of us.
Also, Wade's storied lack of fire will figure into 8-8. A jimma would WILL his team into a 10-6. Demeanor makes all the difference in the world.

It will be because:

1. Injuries to some key spots (i.e. Ware, Romo, Roy, etc)

2. Romo continues to struggle to protect the ball.

3. The loss of Owens and the acquisition of Roy would apparently be a very poor set of decisions.

4. Safeties struggle.

5. Losing Brad Johnson hurts as we cannot find a replacement place holder and Folk misses some crucial kicks he usually makes.

6. Some of the offseason moves the Eagles/Giants/Commanders make really pan out quite well.

7. Jason Garrett cannot make adjustments

Major 2010 moves would the be:

1. Fire Wade (they will probably keep Garrett around and aggravate us)

2. Get a WR in FA or the draft (probably FA if we can find one)

3. Get some more safeties

4. Consider moving Scandrick to safety.

5. Release Hamlin and/or Sensabaugh.

6. Release Flozell.

7. Pickup a LT in FA or the draft.

My top 5 reasons IF we go 8-8 (which won't happen....hopefully)

1-Injuries. They killed us last year and if that plague hits us again we are doomed.

2-Coaching, specifically offensively. For the first part of this see above. If we stay healthy I think Garrett can be a fairly effective play-caller.

3-Tony Romo in December. It's another tough stretch for us again this year. I think Tony proves a lot of people wrong and plays well, but for this to happen see #1 and #2.

4-Offensive Line. They have to show up for an entire year. I get so tired of seeing an all-pro like line dominate one week and then crumble the next.

5-Team Attitude. Yeah, it's over-rated, but there were obviously some issues with this subject last year. From the sounds of it, things are pretty positive in this current locker room. Let's see if this group can stay together mentally for an entire season.

It will be because...
Turnover differential not reversed
Our offense still commits too many penalties
Our interior OL depth issues weren't adequately addresse
Romo played some golf and/or got tired and/or is dating somebody.

And the offseason moves will look like this...
New head coach
New OC/system
New DC/system

This thread was calling me.....

If we go 8-8 it is because:

1.) OL could not transition to a smashmouth run first
2.) Flozell out for year or just plain done
3.) Without TO, Romo throws 19 tds and 15ints
4.) secondary is not as good as we think
5.) We actually miss Greg Ellis. Spencer has 4 sacks for year and Ware ends with 12
6.) Roy Williams is not as good as previously advertised

Offseason moves

1.) Wade and Garrett gone. Jerry names high profile coach in Shanahan, Holmgren or darkhorse Bill Cower
2.) Jerry is very active in FA. Signs left tackle, pass rush LB, and maybe WR
3.) we trade Marion Barber for a second round pick, package both number 2s to get two first round picks.

If we go 8-8 then it will be because of injuries to multiple key players.

That, and the lack of adjustments which entails, lack of coaching.

Top 1 Reason we go 8-8
1. December.

Resulting offseason moves to prepare for 2010
A. We cut Witten in an effort to make Tony a better leader. *teehee*

(not a seriously reply...so don't get too upset) :p

Just Say No To - Shanny or Holmgren and sure the hell not Cowher ]

I could handle Billick

I like the trade idea then we could draft a LT an a WR in the first round

nice

I would like to see Del Rio or Fisher

but there will some hot shot OC or DC if Garrett is not ready

did those three coaches (holmgren, shanahan, cowher) do something to piss you off or is it that you are a relative of Wade?

Bill Cowher is easily the best coach of the coaches you mentioned and would be a good coach here. Only problem is that Cowher would not be a puppet so with Jerry at the helm, I do not think he would come.

I could see any of those other four be good coaches too..
