Who do you think would be there?

I would say Cowboys vs Chargers or Cowboys vs Patriots

Reasons:

Colts: Manning can't win in the playoffs unless it's a poor team. Poor teams are generally eliminated in the first round. Colts defense is suspect. Defense wins championships.

Chicago: They have a top defense, but they will face top defenses getting to the Superbowl. Grossman can't keep his head under pressure. They don't have a running game like the Ravens did when they won. Outcome? They fall because they can't score. Just like last year.

Patriots: If any team can knock off the Chargers in a single game it's the Pats. The question for the Pats is their offense. With their receiving weapons depleted, can they overcome enough to outscore the Chargers?

Chargers: The questions for the Chargers are on defense. It's not that good. Sure early on they were at the top of the defensive charts when they had Merriman on the field. Problem with that is, they played sucky offensive teams. Patriots are more balanced, Chargers have huge offensive weapons in LT and Gates. Rivers is playing over his head because of LT, but it's irrelevant because Rivers has LT and thats all that matters!

Broncos: Not until Jake the Snake is gone. I think Cutler can be great, but is he ready to take over? Can he win now? The Broncos running game helps, but with the Cutler question I just don't think they can make it with or without him. He has to prove something over several games. It's getting late in the season. If they are going to do it, then better get started.

Giants: To many injuries, to many head strong personallity on this team and a QB that wasn't ready. Starting Manning so early was a huge mistake on the Giants part.

Panthers: They are starting to come around and will make a run. They were a mirror of the Cowboys. Barring injury, I still think the Cowboys are better.

Ravens: The Ravens are 4-0 over the last four weeks. Those teams are a total of 19-21. Two with winning records (Bengals and Saints) and two without. The Bengals are strugling, but have a good enough offense to outscore some and the Saints are having a fairy tale season. Fairy tales don't last. The Ravens arn't a bad team, but they arn't as elite as the media makes them seem. A good defense, and a suspect offense. They won't make it through the playoffs as their offense will be exposed.

Jaguars: They can surprise a team with their big physical defense and they do have a running game. Watching Garrard last night showed me alot. The problem is they are missing consistency on offense. Willford is a very good weapon, but Matt Jones has to learn to become more consistent.

Cowboys: Tons of talent and very inconsistent. They seem to be starting to gel, but we've seen that before also. Lets see if they can string several together while at the same time lowering the amount of penalties. Over the last four games they've had (in order) 9 (Panthers), 11 (Commanders), 8 Cardinals), and 7 (Colts) penalties. The funny thing is, when they got beat so badly against the Giants they only had 1 penalty for 5 yards.

Lets get to the playoffs 1st and then come back to this topic. Too early to talk about any trip to Miami.

It would be Cowboys vs. Colts and we win again.... by more than 7 this time.
Manning presses and throws more INT's

and more boring....lol

I'll play. I'd say the Boys and Chargers. They have the best balance in the league, and that's what it's all about, IMO. If you can stop the run, you can stop the Pats. Their WRs are pathetic, and there's only so much brady can do.

Thanks, to many boring bums around here. Speculation is KING!

EDIT: Anyhow, I said IF TODAY was the superbowl. I didn't say who will get to the superbowl.

until we prove we can win more than one quality game in a row....I'm not going to fool myself into believing we can go very far in the playoffs.
And sure the Bears are beatable...but on their homefield, in January...against that defense....that's tough stuff. I still have visions of the eggs we laid against Wash and NYG. Our defense is all over the charts, looks like top 5, then bottom 5.

Right now, my hopes are only that we will get into the playoffs...somehow, someway.

I think a Superbowl next week would have Chicago vs either San Diego or New England.
I think San Diego and New England have defenses that are too tough and hit too hard for Peyton. Of course, Marty usually loses the big games too. I think you'll see New England rejuvinated come Dec. And they know how to turn it on. They were an INT away from going again last season IMO.

It will be interesting should it come down to Bears-Boys, particularly because Grossman is so much better at home, and Chicago should have home-field, no problem. The Giants could be a contender healthy, and if Eli gets right (we're still waiting), but I don't see that happening. Carolina is no challenge. I'm not impressed by their pathetic offense, and we've already made it clear we can take Smith away any time we choose. The wild cards are Grossman and Romo. How will they perform at the highest level.

A few weeks ago I abandoned expectations for this team. Not anymore. This guy's too good.

Chicago has the best special teams and defense. They find ways to score and moreover they do so consistently and have always responded to challenges. They have to have a -6 turnover ratio before they begin to wear down.

Wins will not come easily against them, and they don't fold when they get punched in the mouth, unlike the Cowboys have at several times this season.

Maybe under Romo this has changed for Dallas, but the Bears are the best in the conference until proven otherwise.

Just more realistic after watching how the NFC is and how Dallas has been. I don't set myself up for disappointment, while I have high hopes for this team I'll hold of on SB projections until we at least make the post season which right now is my only concern.

As far as I'm concerned, we just beat the Colts in the Superbowl.

Not let's see if that can be repeated in February.

A month and a half from now, the Seahawks may just be the toughest out (NFC).

Chicago put up nice stats last year too. Lets see who they've beat this year.

  1. Packers*
  2. Lions*
  3. Vikings*
  4. Seahawks
  5. Bills*
  6. Cardinals* (barely won)
  7. 49ers
  8. Dolphins (Lost)
  9. Giants
  10. Jets*
* Even or losing record

Lets see. They have played ONLY 2 teams with better records better than 500, and BOTH of those teams are struggling.

Yeah, the Bears are unproven thus far. Let them play a good team. What do you know! The Patriots are up this Sunday. Should be a good game to watch. If they get beat, it will speak volumes. If they can win. I will give them *some* respect. they are is the weakest division in the NFL. Their preseason is nothing more than a free pass.

nyc, they buried those teams and they've won every which way-- offense, defense, and special teams. The Bills were starting to play well and the Bears smashed them 40-7. They made Seattle look like a junior varsity team.

Regardless of how soft their schedule is, you can't underestimate how well they've played. They are not the 1985 Bears, but you can bet they will be playing at home in January. Thanks to Romo, the Cowboys can beat them, but it will not be easy by any stretch.

I'm sorry. The Bills stink. They've beat the Packers, Vikings, and Dolphins. Seattle had injuries and was without Alexander that game and were just breaking in their new #1 receiver. I cut them a bit of slack. I didn't discredit the Bears defense, but remember the deck was stacked against the Seahawks during that game.

The Bears are a good team without many flaws playing in the softest division of the softest conference. So what? The NFC East is proving to be highly flawed and not nearly the juggernaut everyone thought it would be. Washington is headed for a top ten pick and no one gives Philly's 5-5 record any respect with Donovan gone. New York is in a free fall, and Dallas is 1-3 against these guys.

When Chicago defeated the Vikings and Bills they were each playing well. Arizona sucker-punched them in the mouth with everything they had and the Bears still won. They thrashed the Giants and Seahawks and are building confidence every week. Football is all about confidence, especially in the NFC! Whoever breaks the Bears' serve is going to have to play a damned fine game with few if any mistakes. We are good, but we'll have to prove we can play mistake-free.

I have several reasons to be hopeful, but the Bears have proven themselves worthy of being the top team thus far.

I gotta take the Chargers in the AFC.

LT continues he is the best player around and Rivers is like our very own Tony Romo.

NFC I am not sold on 1 team yet. I hope time will show the NFL we are the team to beat but we can only hope for now.

As the DA Bears. Rex Grossman will not be able to put togther 3 straight games in the playoffs (to win it all). 1 maybe, even 2 is a stretch but NO way does he play well in 3 straight.
