If there is a coaching change, it'll be announced around the SB.

If Jerry is planning on bringing in Shanahan as the new coach, don't expect anything to leak out. Jerry will want to do this in such a way he can get the most possible spotlight time and attention. If we do get Shanahan, expect it to be announced days leading up to the Super Bowl or even the day before it, or possibly the day of the Super Bowl. He will want to draw as much attention to himself as possible. Until that time, I would not expect to hear much. If there is no hiring of Shanahan within this time frame, then we are stuck with Wade for another year and we can at least look forward to a top 5draft pick.

This is a big no-no according to the commish.

I think the word was given a year or two ago that no big announcements are to be made at the time of the SB.

The thinking is the NFL doesnt want anything to distract people from the big game.

Doesnt really matter anyways, Coach Cupcake already got a pass and reports are Garrett turned down the Detroit job (or was just never offered the job, idk).

Was it reported that he turned down the Detroit Lions job or that he declined to interview?

It was reported that he took his name out of the running.

I dont know if he already interviewed or not.

I dont really blame him, who the hell would want to go coach Detroit???

No it won't be a Cowboys coaching changed announced during super bowl week, it will be Favre telling the jets, I don't know if I will retire or not.

I doubt it will happen, but if it were to, I'd bet it will be in the week prior to SB week, when there's a bit of a news void. Or in the few days following.

Again, it's just wishful thinking to think that Jones would do it, but if he were to, it would be at whatever point in time he could get the most pop.

Actually you may be on to something. Wasn't Bill Parcells hired or announce Super Bowl week?

that's what I hate about Jerry. he's turned my favorite football team into the New York Yankees of the NFL. A-rod announced his 300 million dollar contract extension while the Redsox were winning the World Series.

I think the search for a new special teams coach will be telling. If someone is hired anytime soon, I'd say that safely means we can take Jerry at his word and Wade will be returning. Yes, I know, he hired Garrett before Wade, but I doubt he'd hire a random special teams coach with ties with Wade -- only with the intention of firing him and hiring Shanahan. Ain't gonna happen.

It seemed yesterday like a new special teams coach might be hired almost immediately based on Mort's report. The longer it drags out, who knows, maybe it means something. Probably not though, so I certainly won't be hoping or expecting. Unfortunately, the Shanahan stuff is probably as guaranteed a non-story as anything at this point.

That was Scott Boras, not Cashman and Co.

Wait a minute .... didn't somebody say if he went to Detroit, he'd have them winning the division in 2 years? Jason must have found out that there were other teams in that division!
