If they had a new DC lined up...

What is taking so long? Why hasn't there at least been a visit to Valley Ranch? Maybe we did fire Ryan without a plan :-(

Hopefully Jerry is waiting for Dom Capers season to end.

I have been wondering if Capers would be in the picture. Surprised not much talk about him becoming the DC. I believe his contract is up after the season so he should be available.

Capers isn't a free agent even when the season ends that i'm aware of. And why would he leave a GREAT situation in Green Bay to come to Dallas where the head coach may very well be one season away from his firing? And even if Garrett was fired, not like Capers would get HC consideration.

Since he is still in the playoffs we wouldn't have been able to talk to him yet. That is counter to the story that they called Ryan because they wanted to move on someone else.

Didn't they report that Dallas had to interview everyone on the defensive staff before hiring outside?

That's my concern too. What name brand defensive coordinator would want to come here knowing that Garrett is one season of slow starts away from being fired?

The only thing I can think of is a former HC who knows that Jerry could fire Garrett at any moment and he could be promoted.

They said the staff needs to interview with the new DC.

An article I read yesterday said Capers contract ends after the season. He and Garrett are friends. I wouldn't discount the possibility.

So I guess the question is if it is Capers... Then why the rush to fire Ryan? No dc in place that we are aware of and the cowboys made this hasty move without a plan? I can't fathom that this decision had to be made via phone while Ryan was on vacation like an 11th hour move and there isn't a plan of succession ?

We better get some names by tomorrow of coaches being interviewed or given the job..

No offense... I agree
But "or what??"
We better get some answers or what are we going to do?
Nothing.. We will just continue to shake our heads but continue to pay attention and give them more relevance

I'm flattered that anyone would refer to me as Mr. Positive where it pertains to the day to day shuffle at VR. Feeling wiser to the ways of this franchise I guess..

Jerry typically speaks in tongue so if you can manage to avoid getting caught up in the "what does he actually mean" speculation game you're doing alright.

I'm very positive that Jason Garret has now been stripped of all options for deflection of blame. One more 8-8 season and he is toast. I'm also positive and hopeful that we might be talking to someone like a Lovie Smith that could really turn this defense around and serve as a soft contingency for the next HC appointment should Jason come up short again.
